Umm... I'm 16 have the same symtomes dosnt hurt annoying though and I have no idea what is causing it and unsure on what to do any suggestions or info.???

OMG. I am 38. Had total hysterectomy 1 yr ago. Same systoms. Pressure, fluttering, twitching. Feels like I pregnant and baby moving and kicking.

here i thought i'm the medical mystery lady, with my own weird fluttery feeling in lower abdomen, like a gentle bumble bee snoring...i've experimented with diet, but so far no particular change, very unpredictable...since i've had prior gyn surgeries for pre-cancer, the gyn wants a pevis transvaginal ultrasound and a complete abdominal ultrasound, in order to rule out any cancers in the abdominal area..perhaps overkill, but once you've had a close brush with cancer, it will bring peace of mind...my guess is a bit of diet tweaking, maybe natural probiotics from yogurt, maybe extra magnesium and potassium...magnesium can be very helpful for lower GI.. and  for me to calm down and carry on.

PLEASE READ THIS! 

I have had these same symptoms on and off since my full hysterectomy/oophorectomy 5 years ago. It feels like it's on the same spots my ovaries were (previously had a large cyst on 1 ovary). I also developed IBS after my hysto (occurs in ~10-15% of patients) and symptoms are clearly exasperated by stress, increased walking, standing, exercising, and fatigue. I work in exercise rehabilitation so I think I have a fair good idea about what's going on. 

Common links in all these cases:

- stress

- fatigue (muscle and systemic tiredness)

- for women- history of or current reproductive problems (e.g. PCOS, endometriosis, prev pregnancy etc)

- scar tissue in the abdomin (men or women- hysto, appendix, hernia etc)

- GI dysfunction or disease (e.g. IBS, chron's)

Pretty sure this is pelvic floor muscle spasm(s). I'm not sure which muscle specifically, doesn't feel like psoas or illiacus (both major hip muscles), it's probably a deeper pelvic muscle or muscles. Any stress or fatigue places high strain on your nervous system, and muscles spasms often have a neural component as a type of 'misfire'/inappropriate neural activation or co-contraction of a muscle. Any increase in activities such as prolonged standing, walking or specific exercises can cause pelvic muscle fatigue (weakened or deconditioned pelvic muscle are prone to fatigue). GI disorders can also cause abnormal contractions/hyperactivity of the smooth muscle in the GI tract- this could solely be a spasm in the GI smooth muscle and/or pelvic muscles. Any contractions of uterine muscle or disease processes in this area can also contribute to spams. Scar tissue comes into play here as it attaches to the muscles and connective tissues creating tension and infering with the smooth movement of muscles and gliding of connective tissues around organs in this area. Any surgery also means some degree of nerve damage (I have large amount of nerve damage in my abdomen). Some of the smaller nerves will regenerate over time, as they do the nerves find/generate new pathways which can cause spasms (but commonly nerve pain or tingling). 

Suggested management: 

- relaxation, breathing, yoga, meditation or whatever works for you to de-stress (deep breathing works directly on your nervous system to relax your muscles and increase your ability to tolerate pain)

- sleep! (quality and quantity- probably one if not the most important factors here)

- good nutrition (as mentioned previously magnesium, potassium, salts etc)

- appropriate medical management of GI or reproductive disorders

- pelvic floor conditioning: some pelvic floor exercises, hip stability and mobility exercise, or incorporate pelvic floor into any exercise by paying attention to the position of your pelvis/draw your attention to the area. Google these terms to find some exercises. Find the right balance here because too much pelvic floor work will only exasperate the spasms (excess fatigue snd neuromuscle activation), but no conditioning to your pelvic floor will leave it prone to fatigue and lead to spasm. There is no specific numbers, just find what works best for you and progress or regress it according to symptoms.

36 year old male...same exact fluttering that everyone else has, so I think its safe that its not any gender specific organs causing....one common string i've noticed in slot of posts - stress

This is currently happening to me as well.  The fluttering is always in the same spot in my lower, right abdominal cavity.  I'm female, 34.  It feels like pregnency, i was worried about an eptotic pregnancy.  I just recently had a new form of IUD placed in, so was worried that this could've caused that.  But so many other people have this same odd symptom and are not pregnant, so i'm totally stumped.  I read somewhere else that taking vitamin B-12 helps with this symptom.  I'm going to try that.  I also read that it could be caused by a parasite in the intestines, and that anti-parasite meds could cure it.  .......  ????

Try a pill of vitamin B12. Or if you would rather, have your doctor run blood work for that deficiency. It is very common. You may eat all the right things, however lack the ability to absorb it which can cause the spasms. I get them when im low on B12 (when i havent taken my pills etc)

I haven't went in to see if I was pregnant but I have this twitching thingy going on in my stomach on the upper left of my rib. & sometimes my stomach hurts for like 1 min. Could I be pregnant?

(29 year old female) Yes...I have begun same fluttering symptoms as everyone else, but mine are also accompanied by back pain and headaches. My flutter is on my left lower abdomen though (most of you say the right side), right above my hip. I also experience nausea and dizziness from time to time...mostly in the mornings or around lunch time. The fluttering is constant though, all day, on and off. I can say I don't eat like I should, but I'm not unhealthy in anyway. I did (like most of you females) take a pregnancy test at home that came back negative as well. (mouserif) scared me with that one. To answer you about the back pain...mine begins on my left middle back area right below my ribs and at times moves all the around to the front on the same side. Its not and excruciating pain, but it is very tender. My headaches begin in the frontal lobe above my left eyebrow, like someone punched me dead in that spot, and spread to my parietal lobe are, but only on the left and only sometimes. My thoughts get tangled when speaking (recently) too and it seems more difficult to catch what I'm trying to say. Pills do nothing for it. I handle stress differently than most, so its hard for me to really recognize when I am stressed so it could very well be that. Either way I just wanted to let you know that there are some of us that have other symptoms that accompany the spasms. I have an appointment for labs tomorrow morning, and I will make it a point to return once I get results. Most of your posts were over a year ago. If you are still suffering...keep researching and testing, hope is around the corner.

Well... I went to the doc, all lands came back negative, no pregnancy, no STDs, a minor yeast infection, but nothing serious. When being asked about my sexual history, it was brought to my attention that my sexual activity has seriously decreased lately...I mean from once every week and a half to months having passed with no activity. The body gets use to a certain routine no matter what it is and reacts when that routine is disturbed. Unfortunately, we still don't know the cause of the spasms, but it could very well be I haven't been active in a while. Maybe take a look at any changes in your activity. Hope it helps some of you.
