I am a health 54 year old women. Over the last 5 years or so I have been experiencing a burning sensation (not painful) in my lower right abdomen. The sensation may happen after I eat and siting down for the majority of the day. It always occurs in the same specific place, about 20 cm down from navel and 5 cm to the right. Over the years I have done CT, colonoscopy, even did an operation to remove some cyst, but nothing has changed. Laterly, the sensation location is enlagered. I don't know what will happy next, but will update you on development because I want to share the experiense with you, just like I need someone to let me know what's going on.

I am a 27 year old male and have been experiencing the intense heat sensations in my lower, left abdomen. There is no pain or itching, only the heat sensation, feeling like its coming from inside. The sensation sometimes travels to my lower back. It's only been happening for a couple weeks now. I don't have any bowel issues, I'm extremely regular. I do have Acid Reflux and a ridiculously unhealthy, high fat diet. I also drink alcohol occasionally and smoke cigars. The only thing that I can think of, is that I recently purchased a Hot Tub, which I use daily. I also returned home from the Caribbean at the same time I got the Hot Tub (about 2 weeks ago). Those are the only two life changes that have occured since the onset. I've had the Acid Reflux for over 5 years and take Omeprazole. I wonder if any or all of those reasons may be contributing factors. I have an appt. Monday and can't wait to tell my doctor that I know he won't be able to diagnose me! (judging from all the previous posts).

Hi
The symptoms many of you are talking about could also relate to HPV (human papillomavirus) infection. There are many different strains of HPV and there are some symptoms described by some as burning sensations down the leg (s), abdomen and around the affected sites usually on the genitals. It can be transmitted from skin to skin contact. It's very common and many people do not even know they are carriers or have been infected. Some experts estimate that up to ninety percent of the population have been infected with HPV at some time in their lives. Most strains do not lead to further complications. Perhaps you can ask your health care specialist to test you for the condition and/or a determination at a later stage of what particular strain you might have. Hope this is of some help.

Some strands of HPV human papilliomavirus have symptoms of which you are talking. It's very common and is spread from skin to skin contact. Some experts say that up to ninety percent of the population have had HPV at some time in their life. 'Insist' for a HPV test and to determine which strand you may have. Some experience abdominal, genital and leg heat. It can take up to two years to clear from your system. Hope this has been of some help.

I've had the same symptoms, slight burning and isolated mild cramps in lower abdomen. I read someone in this thread talking about candida, and I think this is the culprit. I think this especially because of people in this thread who've had CT scans, colonoscopies, urine and stool samples. I myself went through a bout with HPV, and because the warts were literally in my urethra (at the exit), they did a cystoscopy, which involves pushing a small camera down the urethra to check on the bladder (which turned out to be OK). The strange thing about candida is that it's been linked to so many symptoms that would otherwise seem unrelated. You can try to go on a candida diet, but they are strict and vary (mainly because theories on what should and shouldn't be eaten vary). The main rule is: no sugar (natural or artificial, meaning no fruit), no yeast, no vinegar (some kinds are ok, like apple cider vinegar), no booze, and no milk products (soy is ok, but it also has its own critics). Some also go so far as saying you can only eat organic foods because there may be traces of yeast in organically modified foods (figures). I know what you're thinking, how is this diet even possible? Trust me, I've tried and it's possible, you just have to be very disciplined. If you're worried about not getting all your nutrients, don't. You get plenty of vitamins in vegetables (which you can eat galore on this diet), and you can get protein in eggs (eat only egg whites), nuts (some have to be avoided though), and meat. Your main source of carbs will become rice, which is easy to take care of with a 20$ rice cooker, and stick to brown rice because white rice may have traces of yeast (or so I've read). If you are worried about your daily intake of essential vitamins, take a yeast-free multivatmin. Centrum and other main brands usually have it clearly written on the box if the vitamin is yeast-free. I'll be honest, as a 26 year old male, I have never lasted longer than a week (or almost 2) on the 3 occasions that I've tried this diet, but that's because I have many other personal goals that require I eat food almost all the time (bulking up for sports is the main one). Suprisingly, it wasn't giving up booze that was hard (and I drink every weekend, well almost), it was the sugar. Sugar cravings were so challenging. But after 4-5 days (after the candida die-off syptoms subside) you feel absolutely amazing. Great sleep, great levels of energy and emotional stability, regular bathroom breaks, it's wonderful. I strongly encourage everyone in this thread to try it out if they are up for it. Personally, I didn't believe in the only-organic rule, and I still saw a drastic change in myself.

Hey, everyone, I hope this might be the answer you're looking for. ASK YOUR DOCTOR if they might be diverticulitis or cystitis. The two sometimes happen together or it could just be cystitis by itself. I had this problem and went to the doctor twice before I went to the emergency room when the problem persisted. It was diverticulitis. By the time I got to the ER the infection was bad and I had to take 3 weeks off work to recover and take antibiotics. It was miserable. They were scratching their heads because I was only 24. If they tell you it can't happen, go to a diff. doctor!! I know it's an "old-age" condition normally, but make sure you don't have it. Last time I had an attack of diverticulitis, it was accompanied by cystitis. Horrible combo, but if you catch it early, a week of Cipro will make you new again. :) Oh! And take probiotic supplements after taking Cipro. You'll kill all the bad and GOOD bacteria in your stomach. If you're a female, make SURE you take a probiotic for a few months. Otherwise...yeast infection. No fun!!

If this lets me reply - talk to your doctors about a wheat or gluten allergy. I was diagnosed with chronic gastroenteritis, IBS along with several other things. Turns out I have a wheat allergy (definitely) and/or gluten allergy (possibly). After a few months without wheat I had some crab rangoon because I couldn't resist them & should have. Over 2 weeks of pain & actual hives on parts of my skin. Just a thought.

I have had the lower left side burning too, quite painfull, and my boyfriend thought that I was attention seeking. Two things, strong dose of anti-parasite medicine. Doctors know about worms, and it is very common, but rarely test for it. Eat loads of gabbage, broccoli, fiber based food, before taking the medicine. give yourself a healthy clean out and then take the meds. Once you have done so, take digestive suppliments, probiotics, prebiotics and digestive enzymes. You will be amazed at the results!

I am 44 years old woman and I too have had a buring sensation over my ovaries, I recently got a tatoo of an ovarian ribbon on my hip for my very best friend who is battling ovarian cancer and my Mom who died 6 years ago of ovarian cancer, and it seems like ever since I have had a burning sensation there as well over my right ovaries. I had vaginal taping done about 3 weeks ago, but had spotting before and then for 3 weeks afterwards with no explanation. I have had an internal ultrasound as well as pelvic ultrasound with nothing. I am really worried as to what it might be and need to know if anyone has any answers

I'm having the same sensation right now: burning on left side, very low. I think it's a sciatic nerve on the internal side, because I've had sciatica problem for over a year now. I can't sit anymore it got so bad. Now the pain travelled to the front of spine and hip. Nothing really helps with this nerve. Anything I tried gets rid of pain for a week and it comes back again. I'm sure it's stress related because when I went for vacation, the pain was gone completely till I got back. :)

wow...found this thread because i have been having burning pain along the descending colon since back surgery a week ago. since i have had abdominal surgery x 3 in the past, i am guessing it is adhesions aggravated by the constipation that followed the surgery from all the pain killers? I normally have average to loose stools and constipation is unusual for me. But now, reading this... it may be an imbalance of flora in the gut as well. I recieved IV atibiotics both before and after the back surgery, got the expected yeast infection because of it. It is the sort of burning/cramping you feel if you had taken a laxative. Curious so many have this problem.
