I am a male in my 40s. About 5 years ago, I started to have a burning sensation in my lower left abdomen. Sometimes it radiates to my back, or legs, but it is mainly in the lower left abdomen. It is at its worst when I’m sitting or lying down. Eating always makes it worse, no matter what food it is. I have tried all kinds of diets, including cutting seeds out of my life, and eating lots of fiber. I have been to at least 20 doctors, including gastroenterologists, urologists, radiologists, neurologists, and surgeons. I have had every possible testing done, some of them multiple times, including CT scans (with and without contrast), MRI, X-Ray, ultrasound, even a PET scan, which is usually only done for cancer screening. My blood work has never shown anything abnormal. I have had multiple colonoscopy and upper endoscopy done. Doctors have told me it was things like IBS, diverticulitis, ulcers, and many more things, but all have been proven to be false. I have taken several rounds of Cipro and Flagyl for the diverticulitis, and my last colonoscopy showed that even the pouches vanished, which is impossible, so I either never had them or they are still there. Recently, a doctor told me it was some type of hernia, so I had a laparoscopy done, but that showed no signs for hernias, only some twisting of the large intestine, which my surgeon said he fixed. Five days later, I ended up in the emergency room because my heart was beating too fast once I realized all my symptoms were back after the surgery. Afterwards, a doctor told me it might be cancer, which was proven false with the PET scan. Then, I went to a psychiatrist and she diagnosed me with depression and anxiety, which I think is a result from having so many scares over the years and always being on the edge of my seat while waiting for results, so I am taking many medications for that. The burning went away for a month or so, but now it is back and I do not know how to deal with it and the depression at the same time. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME! If you have had a similar experience or know someone with similar symptoms, any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

You hit the head on the nail! That is exactly what I'm feeling. I am a single mother of four very active children, I am in grad school, and a supervisor of 134 employees, so I am always under stress. I think your theory of it being an ulcer makes sense. I am going to try to the Vitamin C suggestion. I have noticed that the pain hasn't gone away and it could be because I have started taking ibuprofen everyday again. I was told by my pain specialist that ibuprofen irritates ulcers. hmmm.. let me try that theory.

I am currently experiencing this pain. I am a 32 year old female, have PCOS and experience frequent ovarian cysts that come and go every month, causing pain in my lower left abdomen. This pain is much different though. It's a deep, painful, burning sensation that is radiating through most of my lower left abdomen and a bit of my groin (no back pain, yet). Any ideas?

Male 40s - Starting getting the pain in the lower left side about 2 months ago - warm burning plum sized, spreading to lower back and sciatic at times - like a giant mouth ulcer in the gut it feels like
Ruled out kidney stones, bladder or liver problems... going to have H.pylori tests as that seems to be what most people seem to have with these symptoms, viz. an ulcer caused by H.Pylori infection.
I think mine happened after I had some very spicy food that probably killed my good bacteria too, then I contracted H.pylori from somewhere else some weeks later - the inflammation has gotten better after a week of antibiotics and antiinflammatories but I want to try a natural remedy first.
-Change your diet
-have Mastic gum and strong Manuka Honey
Good luck people

I experienced similar symptoms several times, while passing pieces of Kidney Stones that had broken off and were migrating from kidney through the ureter toward the urethra for elimination in urine. The stone particles are SHARP and often cut the tissue of the very thin ureter, causing some pain and often some blood in urine. Also experienced the sweats and nausea. You may want to get screened for the presence of Kidney Stones. Good Luck.

This thread is very old but I had the same situation and I was diagnosed with diverticulosis. They believe I have had bouts of it over the years but was able to resolve it on my own. This time I needed two powerful antibiotics. Cat scan is the only way to know for sure. Hope you're better!

Try PROBIOTICS! I've been on them for 2 days now and the burning has subsided. It took maybe twelve hours for them to kick in. I took them during the afternoon and when I woke up the next morning the burning was gone. A quick history of me and my symptoms. 38 year old male here, thought I've never been really tested for IBS the doctors just sorta stated I have it. That being said 2 weeks ago out of the blue I started getting this sunburn feeling straight across my waistline/beltline. Sometimes I'll get pain directly behind my belly button that feels like a string is attached to my groin, and sometimes rectum. The bellybutton/groin pain is a cramp-like pinching sensation, but its the burning of the waistline that was maddening. No food in particular seemed to make it any better or worse. I tried cutting out coffee and spicy things, sweet and salty things - the burning just stayed there no matter what I did. I'm still getting the belly button groin twinges of pain, but the burning is gone, at least for now. I take "Garden of Life" brand, "Once Daily Men's" probiotics. My bowel movements have gone for liquid to the most normal bm's I've had in YEARS. I'm not even kidding. Try probiotics and see, you have nothing to lose.

The burning sensation I am feeling is on the lower left abdominal/groin area. It’s that same burning sensation when you have a CT scan with contrast and you feel that burning sensation flow throughout your body. That’s the same sensation I’m having, but I’m not lying on the CT machine! It’ll happen while I’m walking the dog, lying in bed, anywhere. It’s bizarre. And there’s a stabbing feeling too. What IS THIS?!
