I would like to know if lumps on the tragus are common, and if they are dangerous in any way? My new boyfriend has quite a noticeable lump on his tragus, and he told me it isn't because of a piercing or anything, which is what I thought it might be. He says it has been there as long as he can remember. So could it still be dangerous?
I guess it is possible, but I doubt that very much. If the lump has been present for your boyfriend's whole life, and it has not grown any bigger at all, it is most likely just a strange kind of birthmark. I do think people get far too paranoid about lumps these days! Good luck with your new relationship!
Well, but don't you hear stories all the time about people who didn't know they had cancer and then, when they finally find out in a late and developed stage, the doctors say it is too late and that there is nothing they can do about it. I don't think my boyfriend has cancer, but I do want to make sure he is OK!
I have one too! And so does my mum, its kind of a deformation I guess, and genetic, both me and my mum have had them our whole lives.
I have had bumps in front of the tragus on both ears all my life (63 years). The interesting thing is that one is a little higher than the other…so they are not symmetrical.
My mother doesn’t have them, but her mother did. I have also met a lady who had ½ inch long bumps, about ¼ inch in diameter. Mine are also about the same diameter, just not elongated like hers.
Never any redness, swelling or other problems…they are just there.
I just tell people that notice them that I am an alien and that is all that is left of my antennae after conversion to human form.
It could be a swollen lymph node indicating some type of infection. I have one too but it isn't noticeable.
