I am pretty confident that what you are describing is the start of varicocele.
Those are swollen or distended veins that have pooled blood waiting to be returned to the heart.
These veins do not hurt, they are not hard, they tend to vanish or get away from your fingers "like a bag of worms"... and they will not hurt you.
In later life, if fertility becomes an issue, they could be a cause, but for now, they shouldn't be an issue.
You can bring this up to your doctor the next time that you're in for a check-up or some other reason.... Don't be shy, speak up. After a quick exam, I'm pretty sure he will agree and put your mind to rest.
PS: There's a quick way you can check if I'm right... While standing in front of a mirror, or feeling for them, you'll find them on the left side, correct?
Now lay down. With a hand-mirror, see if you can spot them. If they're harder to find, or they "go away"... that's the blood returning to the rest of the body. If you stand up, they return. Presto: Instant diagnosis! :-)
