My close friend’s mother has been diagnosed with lupus. I know that this is a serious disease, but I don’t how much. Can anyone tell me mortality rates of this disease? What can we expect? I would really appreciate any kind of help with this. Thanks to all who reply to my post.
Hi. Mortality has changed during the history. In 1950s almost 90% of all patients didn’t survive the period of five years. Nowadays, things have changed. Prognosis is worse for men than for women. It is also worse for children than for women. It has more benign course if it appears after the age of 60. Those are just some of the factors. I really don’t know the exact mortality rate. Maybe you should consult an expert.
