Hi there friends, i'm a male 41 yo, i had TT recently (11/08/2011), and my ENT surgeon says that frozen section biopsy has small traces of cancer in my removed thyroid. I'm about to see an endo next week (12/06/2011) for my RAI. Is there advise that RAI is necessary, since it is just a small traces?..and second question..how often it will be done?..appreciate your advise..thanks so much..:)

Hi,

Yes, it's normal.  It's also advisable to have the RAI (radioactive iodine) just in case.  Depending upon your doctor you may have this several times, if they do additional scans and find "remnants."

Your course of treatment sounds typical so far.

Hope it helps.
