Listen guys, I'm 34 and have been smoking for over 18 years. I'm one if the original cannabis club members( the real pioneers of medical cannabis) and I have to say that there is a lot of bad info on this site.. First, weed is wonderful. That being said, thc is actually a poison(similar to shrooms) than it is a psychoactive... Though no one has ever died from marijuana overdose, it is possible to overdose and have severe side affects, that in a perfect storm situation could actually lead to an untimely death. I.e. choking on puke, blacking out and hitting ur head resulting in hemorrhagic bleeding. (both have happened multiple times) most of u guys seem to have simply overdosed. Panic attacks are frequent and compounded by hyperventilating, which u do everytime u smoke. Be smart. Never mix with uppers an if u have pre existing heart issues or high blood pressure a severe panic attack could result in cardiac arrest. The cause of death would be listed as such even though weed most likely started the chain of events, if it's not the direct cause, it isn't mentioned. Knowing ur limits is key. Some strains (chronic or better, in Cali, it's only ultra potent) most buds have around 13%thc, but if get a new strain, certain ones may contain up to 21/2 times that. Dnt base ur dosage on #of bowls or joints, because often even the same strain, the thc can vary greatly. This is the number one cause of accidental overdose. 99% of the time it's just a whack, paranoid high. But the other one percent can be serious. Bottom line, know ur limits, know ur strains, know ur source. Take it slow! I hope this helps. Happy 420 everyone!

I'm a 27 year old male who, up until 5 weeks ago, smoked weed (and cigarettes) heavily for 4 years. I quit because I was experiencing anxiety, chest pain, dizziness, numbness, etc. Everytime I smoked I felt extreme discomfort. I even went to the hospital twice because I thought I was dying. Even today, five weeks after quitting weed and tobacco, I still experience the above symptoms, but I have found a few ways to severely reduce the symptoms without medication. The first is meditation. Take 30min out of your day to meditate. If you don't know how, then consult google or YouTube - it's easy. Anxiety is the strongest symptom for me still, and meditation will mentally (and consequently physically) calm you down. The second is to use breathing exercises. There's a simple one you can do. Lie down in a dark room and get comfortable (right before bed is an ideal time, or even in a bath). Inhale, hold, and exhale at a ratio of 1:4:2. That is, inhale slowly for one count (say 5 seconds), hold for 4 counts (20 seconds), and exhale for 2 counts (10 seconds). I only used 5 seconds as an example. Inhale for as long as you can and use the ratio. Repeate 10 times. The third and final remedy is exercise. Work yourself out hard 4-5 times per week (strength training and cardio). This will improve the condition of your heart and lungs, produce a lot of natural 'feel good' chemicals in your body (serotonin/dopamine), boost your energy, as well as a lot of other great things. These have helped me get past a scary episode in my life, and I hope they help you too. Good luck. Much love.

For anyone feeling these types of pains and scary sensations I can say from experience as long as you don't have any type of underlying conditions with your health a.e. heart problems such as high blood pressure or heart disease, they will seem to just become less frequent, hard to cope with ect. I used to smoke alot, got arrested just after hitting my bowl and it made me so flipping paranoid it gave me panic attacks, but trust me, it will go away. By its self. Just tell yourself your just goin through a simple body reaction, that is fight or flight. This was a natural body phenomena that caused the constriction of blood vessels deep breathing and rapid heart rate that would allow you to literally fight or run from any kind of danger you are faced with. Now I say this because you believe there is something wrong with your body which is false, fight or flight is a sudden and rapid flood of adrenaline into your system causing all that, nothing that can harm you one bit, if your at a party or with a couple friends and you feel one coming on, remove yourself from the situation to, idk the bathroom or somewhere you can think deeply and relax, tell yourself your alright. And have one friend that you often smoke with that can help calm you down Incase you begin to have any kind of attack onset. If you have any kind of questions or things I can help you with feel free to contact me.  Hope I have been able to help!

I'm 19 I was smoking for a year frequently, I'd say about 5 times a week, mostly bongs, I never smoke cigarettes and am pretty active , I also loved weed because when u have a good time on it, it's great! But the panic attacks and strange reactions started happening the last few months so I quit cold turkey, I've had a bit of anxiety the first week but now in the second week I feel muh better, but I also have a slight dull pain in my upper chest, but whether it's the weed or I've just pulled a muscle in my pec lifting things at work and throwing my arms around skating I'm not sure hahaha, but I experienced the anxiety during and after smoking weed and it sucks, at the end of the day everyone is different and reacts differently, I suppose I wasn't supposed to smoke anymore and if it has happened to you guys then you should probably quit too, your health is always the most important thing! If the pain persists in my chest for a couple more weeks ill head into the doctors but I'd say it's anxiety, I've been checked up not long ago and apparently I was all good, stay positive and remember anxiety can be beaten , but seek help if you must! It can be scary , peace

I've been smoking weed for about 20 years now off and on.  In the last year or so, I've encountered the same problem as a lot of people on this forum.  I ended up in the ER and had to get medicated for panic attacks.  EKG, EEG, blood tests, etc all came back fine.  However, I always had tightness in the chest, dizziness, and felt impending doom even when resting.

I suspected the bag of weed I had was causing the problems.  It wasn't a high like I'm used to and felt more like the high from artificial weed.  It was way more heady and caused me to sometimes feel like I've smoked too much.  At any rate, I quit all of it for about three months while I worked to get my head straight.

All of the symptoms were virtually gone, so I decided I wanted to see if it was weed which actually caused this.  I love to smoke, so I didn't want to have to cut it out of my life.  I smoked some weed with my buddy and other people about 5-6 times and felt just fine.  I ended up with some bud from the same dealer who gave me the panic bud.  Same thing.  I felt a drop in blood pressure, had acute social anxiety, and now have a lingering tightness in my chest.

My conclusion is that something is in the bud which isn't bud.  I've been to Amsterdam and many other places.  Something else is in this stuff.  My recommendation is the throw it out so you are not tempted to smoke it.  I've repeated this experiment a few times with the same results.

My best guess is there is some sort of pesticide in it.  I tasted it directly and could not notice anything unusual, but when I smoked a little and did not inhale, just let it linger in my mouth, it caused a numbness and tingling on my tongue and cheeks.

TLDR: There is something in the weed today causing this.  I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.

I quit 3 weeks ago. Have chest pains every day. Horrible anxiety and rapid heart rate. I smoked for 8 years strait, about 2-4 bowls a day. Now when I smoke I get a rapid heart rate and feel like I'm having a heart attack. I'm 22 years old. This sounds very similar to what people are experiencing here. I'm just praying a lot, and eating a healthy diet, but I have lost so much weight it is also a worry. The pain extends through my back sometimes, and even into my left arm. All I can do is hope it goes away with time. I have been to the ER 3 times. EKG, blood work, cheat, x-ray. Everything is normal, so I am going to find a therapist.

About three weeks ago i started to notice that my heart started to hurt when ever i smoked weed. I thought they where just small heart pains that would go away after some time. It got worse. I than started to get paranoid about my heart pain when ever i smoked pot, i thought that i was going to have a heart attack or panic attack but none of them have ever happend, I would start to think a lot and i would start to move around stand up and check my pulse after a week of having these heart pains. Its been happening ever since every time i smoke tha sensimilla I took a dab the other day and my heart pain wasnt ther but i started to freak out, i was paranoid as sh*t, i than stated to ride my bike since i was at the park with my friends, and i just took off for a really long ride till my high wore off. It was weird i didnt have the heart pain. I also want to mention that everyone is different so not every one has the same pain or get paranoid the same way. It really f*****g sucks that this sh*t happens to me and others because we smoke to relax not to get paranoid and i really f*****g hate that. I would recommend that before u smoke, to try to clear your mind about getting paranoid, try to think that everything is going guchi, and if u have the masive cheast or heart pain try doing something that gets your mind off being paranoid and you'll see that your actually ok, its just that ur thinking so much you actually think its going to happen i would recommend to eat edibles that really woks and its more mellow feeling i would recommend that u get a full physical test to check everything in you. In conclusion you migt just be trippin alot and just need month Tolerance Break, try and relax and figure out a way to handle it, and go get a physical exam so u get can stop thiking theres is something wrong with you,

I'm 20 years old now, I've been smoking pot since I was about 14. I'm 6"5 and a little shy of 200lbs. But recently, here when I take a couple hits off a blunt of weed, the upper left side of my chest, around my heart all the way to the back left side start to get tight.. eventually it progresses and my heart begins to race, and my hands will shake. I don't know quite what it is, but I know it goes away as soon as the high wears off. Which leads me to believe it has to do with the weed, there was a time before when the government sprayed the weed people smoked, and it wouldn't surprise me if mexico sprayed its weed plants (90% of the weed y'all smoke even if you're drug dealer tells you he gets it from cali or the dude that grew it) My insight is just going to tell you, stay away from it. Workout more. Care for your heart. Cut out the cause. Its not hard,
