methadone & missed periods!?!

hi, my names kristi, i am a recovering heroin addict, and got on methadone in 2012, i hadnt had a period in years so i didnt think i could get pregnant and while i was shooting up heroin, i thankfully had no sex drive, however, the first time i had sex on methadone, i told my partner i couldnt get pregnant that i had no period!!!! I was mistaken, because i got pregnant instantly and read that it can make you more fertile. i figured no period, no pregnancy, yay....but i had to abort because i couldnt make a tiny baby go thru something i couldnt even get off, it was irresponsible, wreckless, and ignorant, but how could i put a baby thru opiate withdrawal, i was on 80mg at the time....i believe thats as high as anyone who really wants to get off it should go...when i hear 200 mg and 280mg its crazy...i shot up on my neck, i was bad and i never really needed 80 mg. I am proud to say im now at 21mg and bottom line is you eventually get used to the amount your on....ladies if you dont believe in abortion, i understand, but then u must believe in condoms or birth control....after i had the abortion, i bled and started getting my period again. Omg im experiencing the same side effects. Did lowering ur dose help??? What should i do?????

I had my last cycle in November 2017... started methadone for pain management (19 mg tablets every 6 hours) in December 2017....I haven't had my period, or even any spot bleeding since and it's now nearing the end of July 2018. I am only thinking now that maybe it's the methadone. I also have endometriosis and PCOS. It's possible that it could be either of these, but I haven't ever missed a cycle for this long. CLEARLY I'm not pregnant because I would be having a baby really soon if that were the case #1, and #2 sad, I know but I have not had sex in years....I have to stay on the methadone because of my pain, but my gyn prescribed a ten day course of progesterone to bring my cycle on. I'm only 36 btw... just trying to make sense of this.

I started methadone treatment about a month & a half ago. I have not had my period yet, and was wondering if this is common and if methadone can cause this?

Yes it has to be the methadone. I stopped having my period regularly when i was still using,and thought I would get it back after starting birth control and methadone maintenence. But ive been on it 3 years now and have only had 1. I really cant complain, as long as it doesnt cause any damage or infertility.

I have been on methadone for 8 years and haven't had a period in 4. Before it stopped completely, it would be irregular and sometimes I would miss months in a row until eventually it just stopped altogether. Apparently it is a normal thing that happens to women on methadone.
