The older I've gotten, the more sensative my skin has gotten everywhere. If you have a pale vagina &/or itching, ask your GYN to test for Lichens Sclerosis. But what I've also noticed is that hair friction cuts through my skin easily, especially when not sexually active for awhile. My skin toughens up with regular intercourse but becomes very soft without it & my pubes more often cut into my skin from simply wiping from front to back as you're suppose to. But regardless, prior to sex, make sure all hair is removed so that friction doesn't make your pubes cut you. Also keep the area dry. If you're a "excessive leaker" of natural vaginal secretions which isn't a yeast infection, our natural secretions can irritate our external skin (menstrual secretions also). So after you're checked out by your primary care doctor and GYN, keep your hair removed and keep that area dry and clean. Add vassline as a protective coating after its cleansed and dried until it heals. I also use New Skin Liquid Bandaid & Campho-phenique which burns a lot but eventually it calms down as it heals.

Lichen Sclerosis is treated with a steroid cream. But you only use as needed since steriods thin out your skin. I was issued Clobetasol Propionate cream .05% for L.S. After two days, itching and irritation subside drastically but I use it until it completely clears up symptoms & then stop until symptons come back

Same problems for several years. New diagnosis finally. Lichen Scleroderma aka Lichen Sclerosis. Rare disorder, no cure just remissions. just heavy duty cortisone cream and other management methods. IE. Sitzbaths, oatmeal poltices and be watchful for flare ups.
It was good to have a diagnosis and I can now have sexual relations with my husband every two weeks, once my tears heal.

My doctor diagnosed me with Atrophic Vaginitis. I have tried the estrogen creams & everything else she suggested to no avail. I wanted to let you know that for years I have suffered with this problem. As I was reading this forum I saw your post and thought "why not give it a try". I did and I want to say "THANK YOU". One day has made a difference and going to keep using it. I know it's not a cure, obviously but it really did help to the point where I can actually put panites on again. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!
