I took the morning after pill on the 22nd about 17hours after the condom came off while pulling out. We weren't sure if any actually escaped the condom but we wanted to be on the safe side. My period had just ended on the 18th and now I have it again. Ive been reading up, some people have said its normal, but others say that it isnt a guarantee that you're not pregnant until you get your next normal period..should I be worried? the period i have right now is just as normal as my regular ones (except its waaayy too early). Does anyone know the difference between implantation bleeding and a regular period? :-(

I took the morning after pill Feb 22 and a week later i started my period (which is A WEEK EARLY!). It only lasted for 2 days and was light. I felt really bloated especially in my stomach area. I gained 10lbs in 2 weeks! I work out ALOT and eat very healthy, so i dont understand why im gaining so much weight in such a short time!

Is it just the after effects of the morning after pill?
Or was it just bleeding and NOT my period?

Someone please help! im freaking out!

I had sex at the end of January and the condom broke. The next day I took the morning after pill and then my period started a week and a half early (about a week or so after the MAP). Now, I am supposed to have started my period (if I am counting from my last, early, period) but I am two days late. I took a pregnancy test, but it came back negative. Could I still be pregnant? I've been really stressed about this and I know that can delay your period but I need an opinion!

Hey guys,
Just wanted to share my experiences with you all as well, both to help others and to see if anyone else can share my pain!
So, in the past three years I have taken Plan B five different times.
After breaking up with my last serious boyfriend, I had two difficult incidences and took it twice within two months. (Terrible Idea)
It worked just like it was supposed to, and I had completely normal periods.
I didn't have a period for seven weeks after that and was very worried. I learned from a friend who is into holistic things that if you take large amounts of Vit. C over a couple days it will induce your period. It did, and the last period I had was in early Dec. (Probably not smart using the vit. C)
I had sex with my last boyfriend on the last day of my last period. We used protection. again, early December.
I haven't had sex since then and haven't had a period either. I took a pregnancy test a month ago and it was negative, plus I have no symptoms.
My guess is that it all has to do with my irresponsibility with emergency contraception techniques, but of course I'm still worried because i'm not regular.
I'm worried it could be ovarian cysts, an eptopic (sp?) pregnancy or something like that.
Hopefully it's nothing, I'm going to the Gyno in early April.
If anyone has ideas or shared experiences, I would love to hear them!
Good luck everyone, and avoid Plan B! Goodness gracious it's not worth this trouble! :-)

So I wanted to share my experience for some feedback and to see if anyone is experiencing the same issues.

My period started Jan 3 and I had sex with my partner jan 8 on one of the last days of my period and the condom broke, the next day we went to cvs and got plan b taking it around 12 hours after the incendent. After My period ended it came back it seemed like 2 days later but was spotting. ( gyno said it's uterus sheding ) and that stopped after a couple of days. Also the following week I got a yeast infection due to plan b changing my ph levels and was put on antibiotics. ( and the next week... Wisdom teeth out which gave me more medication , but idk if that matters. ) anyways My period to begin with is irregular like 28 - 33 day cycles. Around the time I was supose to get my period I had Breast tenderness and cramps ( around last Friday march 12 cramps started ) but my breasts were tender the week before too. On sunday it seemed like u got my period ( march 14 ) but it was a brownish color. Now the following days I barely am bleeding idk if I would call it spotting since it's so minimal ( like a few dots on a tampon troughout the day ) and it's still a brownish color, sometimes with pink in it.
Now I'm waiting to see if I'll get an actuall period.
I called my gyno and the plan b hotline. My gynos nurse said it's most linley my period starting again and to take a test next week if it doesn't start.

Does anyone relate or have something similar?

i took the morning after pill 60 something hours after i had unprotected sex with my boyfriend, it was a stupid thing to do and im a bit worried. a day after taking the pill i got vaginal spotting, although i wouldnt call it spotting as the bloody was dripping down my legs. of course it stopped within a few minutes. my breasts have been sore for a few days. the chemist said if i got diarrhoea i would have to come back and retake the pill. its been a week since i took the pill and i got diarrhoea today. will i have to go back and get the pill again?

Hey all,
First, it is such a relief to hear that other people have had a messed up period as a result of plan b (levonelle in the uk). I actually did not have a condom mishap or unprotected sex, my bf didn't even come in me but my period was late and I started freaking out so I went to a clinic and had two tests--both negative. The nurse gave me the pill because I was shaking like a leaf from anxiety, which in retrospect was probably a poor decision on both our parts. I have to go back in a week to confirm that it's definitely negative and it's the pill messing up my cycle.

As far as I understand it, I think I can explain why some of you get your period early, get it twice in a month, or get it late. It depends on when you take the pill in your cycle. A basic overview of menstruation: if you look up a graph of estrogen and progesterone in your menstrual cycle online, you'll see that you have an estrogen spike around day 14, which causes ovulation. Following ovulation, your progesterone levels increase, which promotes and maintains the uterine wall lining. A fertilized egg will develop cells that produce progesterone, enhancing uterine wall development and facilitating implantation. When it is not fertilized, however, you don't have the levels of progesterone necessary for sustaining the lining, so you get your period as your hormone levels fall.

Plan B, as I understand it, is progesterone-only, or a similar compound. If you take it BEFORE you ovulate (i.e. early in your cycle), then the progesterone spike will do several things: a) inhibit ovulation of an egg [you don't ovulate during pregnancy, right? it's a negative-feedback system], b) not be maintained at a high level because you don't have a fertilized, developing zygote contributing to the levels, so you get c) a period a few days after you take the pill. It may be light (likely will be, since you haven't built up much a week or so into your cycle to shed). BUT your body is still on its natural menstrual cycle, so it's normal to get a "second" (your natural) period a bit later as it completes the cycle.

If you take the pill in the middle of your cycle, you mayn't notice anything different because the rise in progesterone could coincide with your natural rise, resulting in a normal, or potentially heavier, period.

If you take the pill LATE in your cycle (as I did), you could ostensibly EXTEND your proliferative phase, thus delaying the onset of your period. By how much? No idea. It sounds like it depends a lot of your regularity, when you took it, and (as in my case) how anxious you are about it. Obviously, even after two negative tests and safe pseudo-sex I'm still anxious about it or I wouldn't be on here at midnight! I hope this biological explanation helps...it may not be perfect but I thought it'd be comforting to know that there is a reason for so many aberrant experiences! I FEEL like I'm about to get my period, but I've felt like that for 2 weeks and this is miserable...I just want to get it so I can get on the pill and be safe!

Hey Ladies,

I have been suffering with a completely messed up cycle since taking the morning after pill too but have come across a fab supplement to get your period back on track called Agnus Castus.

This is how my cycle has played out:

12th March - Came on
19th March - Had sex and condom split
20th March - Took morning after pill
25th March - Came on early and light
Then nothing for 40 days until today 4th May where I have come on again.

I believe what has finally triggered my period is a health supplement called Agnus Castus. I had heard it was great for regulating your hormones and getting you back on track so I bought some this weekend took it 3 times yesterday and once this morning and hey presto I have come on! It seems like a miracle because it has been almost 2 months since my last proper period and I have been feeling like I need to come on for weeks it's been miserable.

Really hope that it works for some of you too!
