Thank you for this excellent information. Next time I, too, will walk into the doctor's office with confidence, wearing a racer back tank with really cool roomy armholes.

Here is the issue. The old tetanus-diphtheria (TD) vaccine didn't hurt (or at least not the ones I got). The new version also immunizes against whooping cough (pertussis) and it is called TDaP. My arm has been hurting for two days--trying to work through it. I'm tired and achy and feel fluish. I agree it is important to keep the tetanus shot up, but I'm not around kids and I truly wish I hadn't gotten the TDaP version of the shot. Years ago I had to go through the cholera vaccinations before heading to Korea. That was easier than this shot. Next time around I'm telling them TD only. Getting a TDaP was a huge mistake. In the meantime, I'm taking Advil and trying to exercise through it. I actually feel better after exercise.

Agreed. Arm pain is better than dying. I am glad everyone came here to post though since I was sure something must be wrong and now I see the stiffness and pain are normal. Apparently so are the shivering and lack of sleep, so it eases my mind.
I have had many tetanus shots before and none ever gave me symptoms like this one so I was worried lol.

I got a tetanus shot after cutting my finger at work. I experienced severe pain and where the injection was administered I have a 3 x 4 inch blistered sore that is as bad as a 3rd degree burn. Is has been two weeks. Need a lawyer.

You should've sued them for compensation and doing a bad job

I'm the same no problem with flu injections etc a couple of days discomfort and all is good but I had a tetanus and whooping cough vaccination 10 days ago - no worries 7 days later I can't even get out of bed because of the absolute pain in my arm shoulder and neck now I'm on antibiotics- it didn't start to even hurt until 7 days later - what is with that. I am slowly getting better - the side of my face is also tingly but the pain is in my arm and shoulder and my arm muscle is so bad, hot, swollen and so painful

The jab NEEDS to go into muscle as this allows the fluid to get into the bloodstream faster. Injections for live virus etc will go into fat and these are slowly received into the blood stream.

I feel your pain. I was bludgeoned into having this shot by the nurse and the pain is worse than my injury. It's also a complete lie about needing a booster every10 years. Studies have proven you have 30 years immunity. Pissed me off even more when I learned that. It's all about gouging the patient in America. Even if it kills us.
