my son since age 5 now 11 has had over 90 kidney stones, a pyloplasty, 4 nephrostomy tubes now this past tues. was suppose to have another pyloplasty, after being in surgery for 2hrs the dr. came out and told us his kidney had to be removed ,but we were so shocked a month before the dr. put in the 3rd nephrostomy tube and said the kidney was excellent, so how in 1 month the kidney was not looking good enough to keep !did the nephrostomy tube kill his kidney, of course we asked the dr. and he said no!
Hi Grandma's,

I'm not sure what you mean be "do the right thing."

Your son needed medical attention which you provided.  As to what happened to the kidney, we can't know for sure.  I would ask the doctor for a thorough explanation of what happened to the kidney however.  He saw it and he took it out.  Did it have to be done right then?  Could you have gotten another opinion?  Those are questions that should be answered by this doctor.

They could have kept you better informed clearly.

How is your sons other kidney?

Hope it helps.
