I am a 17 year old female and for the last seven and a half months my tonsils had been swollen to the size bigger than cherries. I finally saw an ENT at childrens and he said I was a good canidate for removal and told me all the risks and there is a 2% chance of bleeding between recovery days 5-10. The following friday August 22nd 2014 I underwent my surgury. Everyrhing went fine and I went home an hour an a half after the surgury. I was sent home with ibprophin and Tylenol and Oxycodone. I took all the meds as said to and was recovering very well. By day 5 recovery I was out at the store and seeing friends. The morning of day 8 is where things went wrong. I woke up at 4am and felt flemmy. So I walked to the bathroom to spit to my horror to see blood. I changed amd slipped on shoes and woke up my mom saying I needed to go to the hospital. I arrived around 4:30. The doctors on cite put me on an iv bag and medicated me with morphine. They then called the hospital that did the surgury for records and such and they refused to give up my records and insisted on having me transfered to the other hospital. I then rode in an ambulance over arriving about 6:40am. I was put in a room while I waited 1 hour and 40 minutes for an OR to become avaible. They have me more morphine when I started to get pain from thw gushing blood. At this point I lost about 1000ml of blood and counting. I then vomited another 400ml of blood from my stomach. They finally took me up to surgury. They stopped the bleeding and they kept me in the hospital for another 12 hours to monitor me. For 11 of the entire 16 hour ordeal. I had an IV needle in my arm. With nothing commected to it. It was very uncomfortable and annoying. They also would messure my urine everytime I peed by making me go in this plastic tray. I was also on my period so everything was just messy. I am now home starting over. Day 1 of 10 recovery and itnis possible between day 5&10 it can happen again cross your fingers.
