Mornin, Follks. Not quite sure where to post blog spots and such but figure this as good a s any. This is about tonsillectomies , which I had Tues 12/ 20. Felt I had to share this as what Ive read made it sound absolutely the worst thing ever. I am just going to put in my 2 cents as it really was quite tolerable with a little help from a friend :). Day 1. Drove my self to the joint as my bud had never been to the area before so thought best not to traumatize her too early with ATL traffic in Alpharetta. When we arrived things were neat and as should be except for the 52 year old man sitting in the corner reading the last great excertp from DR Suess left on the table.. (guess most clientele is of a newer generation). Paper work done and immediately whisked into the briefing area where I spoke with the surgeon and anesthesiologist with Charlie Brown Christmas playing in the background, (anesthesiologist breaking twice to catch the "good parts" of the clip, something also to be said about talking about the seriousness of the procedure with a doc that has duckies on his stethoscope, so with that I was given some happy juice and carted a couple doors down to another O.R. to speak, Don't even remember entering the room. Afterwards upon awakening my throat felt dry and rough but was able to drink, and within a few minutes was being discharged and heading home, worst part was coming off the anesthesia, groggy and not a good fuzzy feeling. So my Doc prescribed me lortab and diladid, diladid for pain as a kicker if the the loris weren't enough, The pharmacy could not fill the loris so just gave me the diladid. best mistake ever, I took a diladid but was having alot of anxiety along with, but my buddy had had a kolodipin and gave me that. Now folks I must enter my disclaimer here that this may not be for every one but good googlymoogly, it worked for me. Light Pain for a little, and NO Pain after that. I feel I could eat any thing but dont because you know you need healing time. My Doctor also said I had the largest tonsils he had ever removed (coming from a guy whose primary patient is 5 but hey I'll take it. P.S. I used those equate shakes from wally world for food the first couple days and they are great with vodka or coconut rum. But all in all, Do it. Its well worth it..
