Except as otherwise provided by law, a claimant has the responsibility to present and support a claim for benefits. VA shall consider all information and lay and medical evidence of record in a case and when there is an approximate balance of positive and negative evidence regarding any issue material to the determination of a matter, VA shall give the benefit of the doubt to the claimant. 38 U.S.C.A. § 5107; 38 C.F.R. § 3.102; Gilbert v. Derwinski, 1 Vet. App. 49, 53 (1990). To deny a claim on its merits, the evidence must preponderate against the claim. Alemany v. Brown, 9 Vet. App. 518, 519 (1996).

Nancy Furlong - My husband was in Vietnam in 67-68, in artillery and heavy Agent Orange. He was diagnosed in Jan 2015 with MDS. He had a stem cell transplant. He developed deep vein thrombosis in his right leg. He died last June. I am appealing a denial from the VA of the MDS claim. I would appreciate any help.

Need info about MDS treatment with filgrastim. Mode of action? When to use? What are chances for cure in MDS?

Diagnosed with low-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) with IPSS score of 0.5 intermediate-1. HB 12.2, RBC 3.2, platelets 45000, WBC 5.6. observation under watch and wait without any treatment by hematologist. What to do? Is there any alternative treatment for this?
