I have had GERD before, but it had been under control and I had been off all medicine for several months with no ill effects. About 3 weeks ago, I started having intense chest pain, back pain, nausea and vomiting. Went to my gastro, and he put me back on nexium, with Zantac during the day and a " cocktail" of maalox and lidocaine. Helped a little, but I continued to throw up and it just went downhill from there. The next week I went back to my gastro and he sent me for a HIDA scan, which showed my gallbladder was only functioning at 7%. So out went the gallbladder!unfortunately that did not solve the problem, I'm about a week out from having it removed, and I'm still having strong chest pain, nausea and vomiting. Especially in the morning- I can't get to a trash can fast enough. Doesn't matter what I eat, or if I eat, I feel awful anyway. I restarted taking sertraline about 2 weeks ago because I thought it was all in my head and I was going crazy. But I really feel that I'm anxious/depressed now because my body doesn't feel right. Had an endoscopy this morning that showed everything is fine- no inflammation or anything. My gastro has prescribed Domperidone basically as a " let's try this and see what happens" approach. CAN ANYONE HELP?!?! Meds now- nexium 40 mg, Domperidone 3x daily, sertraline 50 mg, hydroxizine 50 mg ( sleep help) 24 year old female. 5'2, started this ordeal at 168 and now weigh 154.
