I know that my condition could not be worse, but still I need to find a way to get better. I have a lung cancer, and I realize my doctor really trying to help me. Few days ago, he prescribed me Navelbine, so I would like to hear something about this kind of injections. Could it really be helpful in condition such as mine, if there is any help for me anyway? Can you tell me what should I be prepared for, after therapy of Navelbine?
Navelbine is indicated as single agent or in combination with cisplatin, and is used as first-line treatment of ambulatory patients with unresectable, advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Sometimes, Navelbine is indicated as a single agent, but usually it is given in combination with cisplatin. If you are going to be under therapy of Navelbine, you should be frequently monitored for myelosuppression, both during and after therapy. Acute shortness of the breath and severe bronchospasm has been reported infrequently, most commonly when vinca alkaloid was used in combination with Navelbine. Furthermore, interstitial pulmonary changes and acute respiratory distress syndrome is common occurring in patients treated with single agent Navelbine. Most drug-related adverse events of this drug are reversible, and if severe adverse events occur, it should be reduced. Sometimes, Navelbine should be discontinued and appropriate corrective measures needs to be taken. Important info is also that administration of Navelbine to patients with prior radiation therapy may result in radiation recall reactions. What is important for you to know is that you need to report any fever, chills or increased shortness of breath, cough, or any other pulmonary symptom.
