Have your Dr check for gastricreflux disease (GERD).  Stomach acid irritates the lining of the esophagus and causes it to swell which makes you feel as if someone has their hands around your neck.  Many do not have any other symptoms of heartburn.

Hi everyone.

I have the same symptoms as you.

Are you all checked for Eagle's syndrome?

I'm scheduled for a 3d scan in two week, I 'll keep you posted about.

Good Luck.

holy c**p! you've mentioned me to a T. my dr. has put me on everything from anti depressents to anxiety meds. As of recently looking and from talkig to others I thought I had a form of acid reflex. But the moment I feel the medicine is working I get that sentastion again. I worry constantly about cancer as well. but this doesn't effect my breathing although I can put myself into an over reaction. I have a dr. appt. on the 19th. I;ve had blood clots before I'm wondering if it's a blood clot. because those do hurt., however uncertain still! I would love if someone could tell me what this is. its very hard to live with while it';s happening....

WOW I am so glad I found this site! My mom always told me not to look on the internet when I don't feel well, but it looks like a lot of people felt how I'm feeling. So basically, I'm in Israel for college this year. I had anxiety (got medicine for it) about flying and that's about it. But about a week after being here my heart rate escalated and I was so shaky I couldn't do anything. All my tests came back normal, my heart was just going fast. The doctor asked if I had any other pain and I told him my neck hurt. I didn't have a sore throat but it is terrible pain between my neck and throat. I have had difficulty swallowing and sometimes breathing. That Dr wanted me to get a thyroid test (which a couple months later I did) and it came back normal. But I've seen 5 doctors since then. One said it was sore throat, two said it was heartburn, another said it could be thyroid. But this doctor I'm with now just ordered an ultrasound for me yesterday, I'll get the results today. It literally feels like someone has their hands around my throat. Extreme pain, sometimes I just wanna cry. I can't function, because I never can sleep. And the biggest issues is swallowing. Now I'm getting terrible headaches. I can feel a lump in my throat and it is noticably thicker feeling than before.

Get your thyroid checked. Make sure they check Free T3 & Free T4, Anti-TPO and other antibody tests for Hashimoto's and Graves Disease (both thyroid conditions). Most drs only want to test TSH levels - not acceptable. Gently demand all of the tests.

Unbelievable!!! I've just looked up those symptoms and I believe this is exactly what I'm experiencing: Unrelenting fatigue Feeling the cold Constipation Swollen face Dry, coarsened skin Dry hair that is prone to breakage, hair loss Voice changes, such as persistent hoarseness Fluid retention (oedema) Sudden weight gain that cannot be explained by dietary or lifestyle changes High blood cholesterol Stiff and tender joints, particularly in the hands, feet and knees Cognitive changes, such as depression or forgetfulness Enlargement of the thyroid gland (goitre) In women, heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia). Low sex drive Can not believe is taken a tonsillectomy and adenoid removal, and a year of hospital/doctors visits! To discover it is Hashimoto’s disease just from reading this blog!!! I'm praying some bloods will give me some answers.

ola' . soy italiana y quero escrebirte " si el medicos te quere aser una fusiones alla cervicales ( collo ) por favor no te ase tocar.. I had 3 massive fusions on y cervical and believe me , today I am not having a nice life . Pains will come back on your neck after a couple of years of fusion..and bone spurs will grow around your cervical spine .. So be careful!!! s long as you can take the pains just have pain management doctor inject cortison ( if they do it in this America .. I came back to Chicago since in German I was told , the hardware had to come out , yet not one neurosurgeon was doing it. So here I Chicago the hardware was taken posteriorly ( since the third fusion was done posterior and the screws were on the back of my neck ), but a year later I haven't gotten better but a lot worse . I have a hard time laying down , since there is a lot of pressure on my neck.,. On the last fusion my cervical got pushed forward by 3 inches .. after the hardware came out ....the surgeon has not riattached all the neck muscles back and now I don,t know how to move on in life ... two different surgeons told me after seeing my new post surgical MRI . On top of everything I also have still , since the surgery an infection in process... I don't get any cal back from the surgeon, nor I can get into a pain clinic to see a doctor that use to treat me...
