wow I love your post

I'm a postural therapist who hardly practices and wears a baby 8 - 12 hours a day.

so I've been having these issues since the baby was born.

When I saw a chiropractor due to a chronic hip pain that was acting up he did an xray and said my neck was a mess.

Then several months later I thought maybe a lymph node was a little inflamed. Clearly there was discomfort I wouldn't say pain. Now it is a tightness at the base of my throat. I can breath. I hear no congestion even with a stethoscope. Just tight. And it comes and goes. And you know its great when I'm lying down or walking and its the worst sitting here at the computer or when my mind gets to thinking "omg something is terribly wrong with me".

That is when it is the worst.

I keep trying to tell myself its posture. I do some exercise and I do neti pot and nasya therapy and keep trying to chill myself. The more chill I am the more loose it is in my throat.

Wow he.

Rolfing looks amazing. I bruise really easy so my GP recommended I don't do it. He's a therapy specialist and got me out of a chronic pain before. He said do yoga. But you know to get this neck back in shape would be a God send.

For the last 2 years off and on I've had a strange pressure type feeling in my neck on the right side. No sore throat, no lumps, and not really a pain but more of a pressure. From my shoulder up to my ear. Sometimes I feel this pressure in my ear, and behind my eye too, not always though. The tightness radiates part way down my back too. If I bend my head forward, I can feel it pulling part way down my back. I went to the doctor about a year ago regarding it, and he thought it may just be some tight muscles. He looked down my throat, and felt around and thought it was nothing to worry about. I have a knot in the back of my neck that's hard to massage out too. I also have my desk set up at work with my monitor to my right and for the last 9 years, I've had my head turned to the right to view it. I notice that when I wake up in the morning there is generally no pressure, but as the day goes on it becomes increasingly more prevalent. It's also not there 100% of the time either. I may go an hour or more without any pressure and then I may feel it for 2 hours. No rhyme or reason to it. I've noticed that in the summer it's much less noticeabl I know that sounds silly but it's true. Obviously cancer comes to mind for one thing and I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar symptoms....

The lump in my neck seems like its getting worse Its noticeable all day now, not looking at it but the feeling. when I turn my head it moves . I dont know just seeing if you found out what it was for you . Thanks a lot.

Often, Doctors are useless. They're professional Guessers.

Good day Zipperhead, did you ever have your symptoms diagnosed? Your symptoms are very similar to mine and sitting makes them worse. I felt I could've wrote your post except my symptoms are on my left side.

I have the same problem, Dr has no idea of cause.

I can't believe this!  I have the EXACT same symptoms, pressure in neck, radiating up to behind the ear up to my right temple.  I have Hashimotos' disease;  also have had an absessed tooth extracted AND I have blocked frontal sinus, right side.  The pain does go into my right shoulder and down my back right side.  IT IS VERY PAINFUL.  I am getting the sinus unblocked by balloon sinuplasty soon.    I use a neti pot,  doesn't work for me...heating pads help a lot but who can go to bed for two hours a day mid afternoon??? I will be getting a brain MRI too in the near future;  my whole head feels tight, my scalp hurts alot too.

Have you been tested for TMJ? A dentist will be able to determine this. TMJ affects the jaw and muscles surrounding the jaw and the neck and throat muscles. Tightening of the muscles around the neck can put pressure on the artery running up the neck to the brain limiting blood flow, thus the lightheaded feeling. Also it can cause anxiety which worsens the condition. My doctor gave me MRI, CT scans, blood work etc... which all came back negative. He gave me a RX for Valium. The valium (half pill during day and half at night) relaxed me and my symptoms have subsided dramatically. To the point where I barely notice it anymore. Anyway may be something to look at. Good luck and hope the best for you, as Ive been dealing with it for about 6 months.

Hi,
I had a MRI for TMJ and I have very mild degeneration, but the docs said it isn't enough to cause the symptoms I described.  That's an excellent comment!   also had taken muscle relaxants before bed to no avail.   I have had this for 2 years.

This may sound odd, but have you tried Tansy Tea? Try drinking one cup a day of that, but dont over due it as you can get Tansy Tea poisoning. A quick google search or Wikipedia on it shows what it can do. My girlfriend got me on it when I started having problems. I havent had a cold or been the least bit sick, just the mild symptoms from whatever was causing the stuff that we are posting on this thread. But as I said above, my symptoms are barely there now. Still there and some days I dont even feel them anymore, but some days I feel it more but NOT to the same point where I thought I couldnt live like this anymore. Its much much more manageable and only like 10% of what it was at its peak. Im off the Valium but still drinking one cup of Tansy throughout the day. A sip here a sip there a gulp there, just one cup.

Good luck and I hope it works for you. And if you are feeling the fullness in the ears too a good product that was recommended to me was TONE. Its available at our drug stores here in Canada or Wal-mart. It helps with blood circulation to the ears specifically.

Google this:

Tone™ is a New Natural Product for Maintaining Clear Hearing as we Age.

Cant put in the actual URL address, but that should bring you to the web page. It has really helped my ear fullness symptoms.

OMG am I really not the only one??? Holy cow this specific post I can relates the more to what I have been going through. About 3 months ago I used to drink a ton of coffee (1 to 1.5 pots a day) I would start getting some random through fullness like a lump in my throat. I ignored it and kept on drinking. Then a few days later it was like I over dosed on caffeine. Ever since then I have not been able to take even 1/4 of a cup of any caffeine. Along with that I started getting arm tingling (left arm mainly, sometime right) chest pain all over, armpit pain. I thought at that point it was GERD but I tested for that and negative. I have had MRI's, CAT scans, blood work, EKG you name it...everything is fine. Then about a few weeks ago with still going through the symptoms someone suggested a pinch nerve. I go get an x-ray of my neck and they spot some compression in T4,5 and 6. If you look at a diagram of where the nerves leave the spinal cord and where they go in your body these exact ones related to the same areas I was having issues. I have a chiropractor friend and went to go see him. Since I have been going everything basically stopped. But now I have neck muscles that are tight. He says they are from adjusting my spine and they want to go back to their old position. He said give it time and ice. 3 weeks so far is still tight (they don't hurt) but they are tight. anyways everyone thought I was crazy. You might want to check your spine and see if you have some serious alignment issues. Just a thought and what worked for me :)

Try neck exercises. It worked for me.

I had the neck/head pressures too. Went to a doctor and was told to do neck exercises (the ones that stretches and relieves the tension around the neck and hence the nerves connected to the jaw, cheeks and brain). I got relieved immediately.

Hi,
Well, I went to 36 sessions with the physical therapist and it didn't help; I have Hashimoto's thyroid and was VERY low with Vitamin D. I am now on thyroid meds, did 3 VitD treatments and still have no relief! The pressure and pain in my neck, up through my ear to my right temple is unbearable. I am now scheduled to have a frontal balloon sinuplasty, but doubt that that will help either; I also pulled the right two back molar (one was abcessed) and that didn't get rid of it! I am retired so no stress in my life...Any other ideas to try?
