I have a full time job and three children and no one has a clue but my husband that i am on methadone. I have never done heroin and have not been a hard core addict i just took methadone to get high one time liked it and couldnt deal with the withdrawl when i wanted to stop. I am doing 1mg a week and am scared to do anymore because o dont want to feel anydiscomfort at work. I have thought about saboxene but heard bad stuff about it. If anyone cangive me some advice that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly.......please help
Hi there, when you take suboxone you simply are swapping out one drug for another that will help satiate your brain's desire. Not that that's a bad thing--there's a lot of physical side effects that can be hard to cope with. You do have to bite the bullet though and power through some hard symptoms if you want to quit and it takes a lot of self-control to do it. Have you talked to a doctor?

I have only been to the methadone clinic. They know that i want off it and i am going down one a week so i can have no withdrawl symptoms and keep my life maintained in the process but at 4 a month at 107 mg its going to take two years. i just want my normal self back and want to be able to eat normal. Since i have been on methadone i have gained 50-60 lbs. I didnt want to share this with my doctor because the last one i had really treated me like c**p about it.. and thank you for replying to my note

That is really unfortunate and frankly quite stupid. A doctor should treat an addiction just like any other disease because that's what it is. If you get a judgemental doctor, drop him like it's hot and get a different doctor. That's ridiculous. It may ake two years, yeah, but seriously, it's for the best. THe taper really makes it easy on you. Instead of seeing it as two years, try to break it down into little goals. You can even do daily goals if you want. What do you think?
