Please someone help me with more detailed info on neurosibromatofis!!! My 12 years old son is being diagnosed with neurosibromatofis yesterday and I was so confused I missed to understand anything the doc was saying –I just understood the word "tumor" he mentioned twice and I am desperate now with this neurosibromatofis. The thing is that my son has developed some brown colored big spots covering his knee and arm area and it is so soft on touch but causing no pain yet. anyway we are suppose to have some further exams these days but I would appreciate much if someone explain to me this neurosibromatofis condition. Thanks!
You have probably misspelled it so it is more likely it is about neurofibromatosis and not neurosibromatofis- and if so my son has the same diagnose so I may help you with a few words regarding this neurofibromatosis condition-those soft brown spots are actually abnormal nerve tissues commonly known as neurofibromas and when they rich certain size and form they actually develop into sort of tumor which if left untreated surgically in case when are affecting vital organ may cause serious health consequences such as skeletal deformities affecting the spine and legs at first place. And basically there is no special neurofibromatosis treatment but on the other hand if that neurofibromatosis is not causing him any pain they still could be removed for cosmetic reason. And by the way since this is hereditary disease and only one defected gene is enough to cause such condition you must get familiar that one day in the future your son's child could be at great risk of getting the same disease.
