I am a 19 yr old gay male(don't hold that against me) and I have been having night sweats for about 3 weeks. I know that night sweats are a symptom of HIV, but I was tested a couple of months ago and all was clear. I have a high amount of stress and some nights I also have nightmares. I have had a few major changes in my life in the past month: I quit smoking weed after almost 3 years of doing so, I never had these issues prior to quitting, I also have added a lot of choc. milk to my diet because I am unhappy with my weight so I'm trying to pack in the calories. I very rarely drank milk all through my childhood and now I drink a few glasses a day. When I have nightmares they almost always apply directly to something that stresses me out in my "normal" life. These night sweats have left me soaking wet, but I never really feel uncomfortable throughout the night, and I sleep pretty much all the way through. I just want some advise, I have a feeling this is related to "the pot" and stress and I just want some thoughts on it.
Could be a blood sugar problem (hypoglycemic...or diabetes). I hear you should keep a big glass of water near the bed and drink it if you wake.

I agree with Jenonater. This sounds like a sugar issue. I was about your age(30 now) and was worried about HIV too as a bi male after a 5 year relationship with a male friend. There's a name for it, but I am not sure I can use it. Let's just call it casual sex with no strings. I had problems breathing which as you may now is another sign of HIV. Tested negative for it. It turns out out my blood sugar levels have been going up and down. It wasn't bad enough for medicine, but my doctor recommended drinking more water and having a potassium and magnesium supplement before bed. No more night sweats, and I think my body was going through the last stages of puberty at the time too.
