Hello, my name is Stephanie and I am 26, I found out last week that I am pregnant with my first child!! It is a very exciting time for my boyfriend and me... However, I am a recovering drug addict (from herion, cocaine and pills) and have been taking suboxobe for 2 years solid. I currently do not have insurance so i get the subs off the street and take 8-12 mg a day. I know it is risky to stay on the subs while pregnant and just as risky to stop taking them. I have Read many threads about other women in this situation, however they are mostly all 3-5 years old... Hoping someone sees this and can give me some advice... Remember i do not have insurance at the moment so i havent been to a doctor as of yet... Should I taper myself or maintain my dose until I can see a doctor??
Congrats on your first child!! I have had 2 healthy full term babies while on subs, but i was also closely monitered by my doctors, at that dose you should be ok and your baby will hopefully not go through WDs, but insurance or not you need to get your first prenatal appt made so you can express your concern to an expert( I know, easier said than done, right?) Either way, congrats and good luck and keep me posted!! I will keep you and your baby in my prayers!!!
