Hello everyone,

I've had this problem for the past 3 years on and off. I have always noticed that it happens when I am really stressed. Not like, oh Im gonna be late for work and it starts twitching, but when I have alot on my mind for a long period of time. Like Oh Im gonna loose my job, gf, become broke, issues with friends, things like that.

Long periods of stress, coupled with lack of sleep makes it worse. Drinking coffee doesnt help either because it makes your body think its really energized when in reality you are only over exerting it.

Its really nothing to stress about. Because that would make it worse. I suggest you try some self therapy. things to try and relax yourself daily. Either a nice walk during work, a relaxing weekend and so on.

It happens to all of us, some more than others. Also Exercising isnt bad and will not cause it, unless you stress your body out. Exercising will help keep a good blood flow through your body and exercising with good rest really is the way to live. It helps you feel fresher and it changes your body to withstand more pressure and work so yuo become a more stronger and well equiped to handle stress. Also its a good time to think and clear your head out.

Thats really all I can say folks. My nose has been twitching this week, Ive had some crazy stress at work, with my wife, with my parents, with my money. I plan on writing all my stress points down on paper, working on them little by little, and leaving them in the book every time I close it. No point in carrying it on your mind.

So good luck every, wish you all the best, and remember

Be grateful for what you have, because others always have it worse.

This could probably be your body's way of telling you it's tired and needs rest also if you stare at a computer screen a lot this does not help as it generate other issues with your eyes all comes from your body be drained in some form or fashion when in doubt google should be helpful and direct you to a reasonable explaination although it is quite annoying I do not believe it means something very bad is happening to your body...I do however believe it has something to do with your nerves lack of adequate sleep and too much strain in that area sometime before or recently. Has anyone tried lying down for some much needed "qt" or a warm or cold heat/ice pack over the area experiencing the twitching drinking water always is good as it hydrates the body plus cools the nerves. Usually issues like these seen to subside on they're own try not to get to worked up about it as this will only make things worst just relax do pressure point massages or face exercises 8-| AND REMEMBER TO STAY CALM... o.O 8)

to the poster above who suggested this is Herpes Encephalitis, a herpes infection of the brain, i hope you realize that you're talking about a severe disease that results in coma within a few days of symptom onset. it has a 70 percent mortality rate. it leaves significant neurological impairment. so if you are still alive right now and do not have headache, still neck, vomiting or coughing, Herpes Encephalitis is probably not what you have. it's best not to be scaring people like that.

i'm having the exact nose pulse/twitch problem right now. had it for the past week. yes, i am freaked out by it. in fact, the more i worry about it, the more the twitching occurs.

i'm hoping my doc will have some answers when i see him in two days. i will post a note here about what he says. i can almost hear him now telling me that it's all stress related. i hope so anyway.

I have had something close to this as well just started about 3 days ago. I had a stiff neck and a headache for about 2 days. But i noticed it about a week after i started cleaning this apartment next door. The people that lived there were nasty very dirty people. I wore a face mask and gloves to clean this place.. Lets just put it this way 4 bug bombs, bug spray and bug powder and im still seeing roaches. They never swept there floors and there was mold on the windows so bleach on top of all that. I was wondering if it could have been from the mold or poss allergies to all the months of dirt. I never had it before i started cleaning this place. I feel little pressure under my eyes like allergies. I dont have the headache now, but i went over there today and cleaned the mold off the windows with bleach and tonight about 7 hours after my nose twitched. I do drink alot of tea and my nerves have been shot as well. I have been using a neti pot to see if it would help for the last 2 days and for me it has seemed to stop the twitching some. I ONLY TWITCHED ONE TIME TODAY!
Not saying it will cure or help but so far it has for me. And for any of you that doesnt know what a neti pot is it is, a pot of warm water with a saline solution that cleans your sinus cavity. You pore it in one side of your nose and it comes out the other side sounds weird but hey if it works im all for it. Before i tried it a day ago i was twitching like 3 to 4 times a day or more. Im in no mind telling anyone to use it or try it just letting you know what has worked for me. :-) hope it helps

Phew, thought I was going mad. Nose started this sensation like a fly was walking on it, funny thing was when I tuched it the senastion left. This happens couple times a day. Reading all the postings is helpful as I can see a common link that suggests stress related. javascript:emoticon('%-)')

I am so happy, actually burst into tears when i read this, thats how paranoid i've been. ridiculous i know. ive had the twinge on and off for the past 3 months, thought it had gone away for a while and then got stressed again and it came back. i resisted looking on the internet as when i first looked it typically led me to the worst possible conclusions, but my boyfriend slyly checked it out and found this site. it all makes sense. it started while i was on holiday, i was at my most tired and run down when we went to thailand for a couple of days where i drank a riduculous amount of thai redbull which is renowned for how strong it is, the problem started within the next couple of days. and because i have been worried about it and drink far too much coca cola it hasnt gone away. i went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago and he just seemed confused and said it could be a trapped nerve...didnt exactly ease my mind. so glad i found this. can finally chill out a bit!

Not sure if this helps anyone at all: my nose twitching only shows up when I'm stressed, haven't had enough sleep, and have consumed too much caffeine (all 3 must be present). It's happening right now actually! Also, not sure if this is related, but it's "that time of the month" and I have a migraine...and might be getting a cold. Mine hasn't been happening very long, and is usually preceded by my left eye twitching (never both eye and nose at the same time), and it's happening on the tip of my nose.

I'm coming to the conclusion that it is stress coupled with no sleep and too much caffeine. I'm going to get more sleep tonight and will hopefully remember to post results!

I cannot believe so many people are having this going on too! I thought it was weird when mine first started and didn't say anything to anyone else about it. Finally, it got to the point I thought other people could see it too. I said something to my friends and one said she could see it moving. So, what is it?

I recently had this problem also. I am 22 active male. Its most likely due to a combination of factors including stress, lack of sleep, high caffeine intake, stressful exercise, and lack of vitamins. It did go away after a few days after cutting the caffeine, taking a vitamin, and I took a sleeping pill. Hope this helps.

I've been having this problem since early September. I am 21 years old, in fairly good health (I think--the dr. said I was back in July), but there are a few things about me:

1) I am a senior in University. This means I'm working really hard not to mess up.
2) I'm a hypochondriac. I am constantly terrified of getting brain tumors/lesions/lyme disease/encephalitis/aneurysms, just to name a few diseases. Even though I really don't have a reason, I'm constantly checking my eyes for odd pupil dilation, drooped eyelids, and I think about as much stuff as I can to see if I have some sort of mental confusion.
3) I possibly have TMJ disorder, mainly on the right side of my face. My jaw and temple area constantly hurt, for many reasons (mostly posture/stress related)

The twitching hasn't been that bad, and it was usually on the left side of my nose, up until last night. I was working at my computer (as I usually do, for at least six hours straight, ugh), and out of the corner of my eye, I saw AND felt my nose do this one HUGE twitch on the right side of the bridge of my nose, like some invisible hand pinched that area, and then it was gone. For the past five days or so, I've been feeling this quiver/twitch/pulse on the top outer corner of my left nostril.

I was given Amoxicillin for a possible sinus infection, but my symptoms included not just the twitch, but dry, itchy eyes, cheeks and nose, and my ears and throat tended to itch. My nose also felt stuffy and I would get headaches. My friends all say it's allergies, and that the twitch is just probably some result of that plus stress. I still have these symptoms a month later, and I've just been trying to deal with it since.

I woke up today with a mild tension headache, and stuffy nose. Now it feels like I have sinus pressure in my nose and cheeks, and my eyes are itching. No twitch so far today, but I have been on the computer since about 10AM. I probably should get off and go eat something besides microwave popcorn and cup noodles.

I was taking a multivitamin and Fish Oil, but I would get extremely nauseous an hour after taking the pills and I'm not sure whether it was the fish oil or the vitamin causing it, so I haven't taken them for about two weeks.

I want to say that the nose twitch is stress and allergy related, but I will try and get a hold of my doctor at some point if it doesn't improve on its own. If anyone has more information, I would love to know what's going on! :-(

I was in class yesterday and my nose felt almost like it was shaking. I asked the person next to me if there was something wrong with my face and she told me it looked as though I was slightly wrinkling the right side of my nose very fast. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and it looked as though my nose was involuntarily twitching on the right side.

I have contributed this to three things:

1. I am very healthy and sometimes considered a "gym-nut" because I usually go every day but this recent weekend I went home and had not engaged in physical activity since last Tuesday. Needless to say, my body seemed to be going through withdrawal of such physical actevity and once I got back to the gym last night, the twitching went away.

2. With the recent outbreak of swine-flu two of my roommates have remained bed-ridden believing they are sick. I have been loading up on Vitamin C for the last few months to ensure I don't get sick and so far so good, but despite this, my girlfriend has gotten a sinus infection and we have spent the entire weekend together.

3. I was caught up writing a paper before heading to the class I was in and grew anxious towards the end. I felt the great desire to finish the paper but I clearly did not have enough time so I cut slightly into my class time to rush back to campus. I walked the ten minute walk, in the 40 degree weather, rushing the whole way.

Being anemic, I am no stranger to having my nose be the coldest part of my body, but I think the combination of stress, cold/heat, sickness, and physical actievity caused my nose twitching.

Same thing here... Left side of my nose has what feels like a pulse, at first i thought it was twitching but after holding a finger on it it seems to be a pulse. been going on for about a week now. the only things i can think of is i started back at the gym 2 weeks ago and after the last time i went i noticed the "twitching" its been a week now with no gym and the twitching is still here. I have also been taking airborne vitamins daily since about a week ago because everyone in my office was getting sick and i felt something coming on aswell. now im 23 in decent shape and ive never noticed the nose pulse ever before. did anyone see a doctor for this?

OMG, I think it has been going on for two weeks now. I have had eye twitches in the past, but they go way in a day. Everyday the bridge of my nose pulsates and feels like there is a current going thru it. It makes me nervous because I think of nervous disorder diseases and the like. Most of them say the symptoms for nervous disorder diseases are usually in the larger muscles which makes me feel better.

Anyway, at the very least it is annoying. It happens everyday. Sometime it goes away for a few hours and I think it's over and it comes back. After it twitches it feels like there is pressure or tingling or something. Ahhh!

Same thing is happening with me. It started about a month ago with muscle spasms above my right eyelid. When the spasms didn't stop after one week, I went to the eye doctor just to make sure nothing was wrong with my eye. The optometrist said it was probably just stress. Later that week I went to see my primary care doctor because I was also starting to feel fatigued most of the day and I was having issues with my heart racing and uncontrollable breathing. The doctor told me I was most likely suffering from a panic disorder. These types of disorders are usually related to stress, but like I told the doc, I haven't been feeling stressed. I was prescribed Xanax which I have had to take about 3 times in the last couple weeks whenever I feel the "anxiety" coming on. The good thing is that the muscle spasms above my eye have stopped, but my nose and upper lip are now tingling. My head also feels very heavy at times. I am having headaches and pressure on the back of my neck just below my head. I still fluctuate from feeling absolutely perfect to extremely tired. I even went to the ER one night because I couldn't controll my breathing, but by the time I actually saw a doctor, I felt fine. I was told my monitor my blood pressure because it was elevated the last couple times I saw the doctor. I would encourage everyone to visit a CVS or Walgreens as many of their locations have a machine to test blood pressue.

By the way, I am 27 and in decent health. I did gain about 25 lbs over the last two and a half years which isn't healthy at all, but I was starting to get back on track. I was going to the gym about 3 times a week and I quickly escalated to 5 times a week. I also started working out with a trainer about 2 weeks before my eye started twitching. The doctor suggested that I continue to exercise but cut back on my gym time. Exercising helps to relieve stress, but too much can adversely affect your health. I am a bit of a hypochondriac which may explain all of my hospital and doctor visits, but I like to know what is going on with my body at all times. Be blessed everyone!
