Hi Lana.......If you husband is interested in non-invasive surgery check out the Laser Spine Institute (LSI) in Tamps, FL. They do cervical and lower spine surgery. He can send the CD of his MRI and they will review it and let you know if they can help him. I've talked to many people who had surgery down there and got very high reveiws. Check out the website, Good Luck!

My name is Ken, I had cervical fusion in 2001 after a near fatal fall, I had bone graft from hip, plate and screws. In my case it took over 2 years for a good fusion. all the usual problems. So we jump to oct 2008, I have been having a lot of problems, neck pain, trouble swallowing, choking, pain in shoulder, elbow hand, fingers , neck pops when I turn to the left and oh yes headaches that are off the charts. I have taken all the meds and now am in a pain mgmt program, its my 4th round of facet injections, they give me atleast a 2 month relief of the headaches,
Finally my Doc have ordered a new mri,I think its an insurance thing that they would not do it sooner. I think the results will be a failed fusion with eather problems at c-3 -c-4 or c- 5- c-6 above or below my first fusion.
I just cannot live with all of these constant problems,It cost me my job,and I fear soon it will cost me my wife of 38 years, who has been with me all the way but is gettig tired of all of this, any Ideas?

I had surgery back in 06 March and the pain down my pine and neck plus shoulders and arm plus fingers. I was told I now have nerve damage and my
right check and leg causes me not to be able to walk normally again. I have trouble sleeping and when I do sleep that all I have the energy to do.
Can't sit for long, back starts up and then my head gets heavy.

I am in recovery from c-5 c-6 decompression/fusion surgery I had a week ago today.
I know I don't have any answers for you or even myself about pain relief, but I can share news about a helpful product that is helping me stay stabilized and sleep when possible.
My friend brought me a bobby pillow that nursing mothers use to prop up babies, and it has been a godsend for support.
It fits perfectly around your neck brace and (forgive the pun) cradels your neck and shoulders. I only share this because I never would of guessed a product made for nursing mothers would be such a comfort when we need support during our painful times.
Hope this helps out some~

i am a 33 year female that has 2 dermoid cysts on my spinal cord. i had one partially removed, (only 1/3- 1/2 was removed). the tumor is at T12 and L1 ............. during the surgery the doc cut one of the nerves in my back.... i now have super extra sensory nerve pain in my left leg starting in my toes and travelling up to my hip. the docs told me to do desensitising excercises to try to rid the toes of pain....... so far i have been unsuccesful.... it has been 6 weeks since the surgery,,,,, so i am just really wondering if the nerve will repair its self or if i will have to live with this pain for the rest of my life.... or will the nerve just die and the pain will go with it,,,,, i am from canada and just really looking for some answers from others that have gone through the same or similar issues

Hello painstaken - I am wondering if you are still posting on this board. I was a Stryker CerviCore subject too. I have several adverse events post surgery and my PI has never bothered to order tests or report them to the sponsor and FDA. We need to compare notes. I have filed a complaint with the FDA and they said they are taking my complaints very seriously.

If you see this - please find my email addy and respond back here or in private. I would really like to talk to you and see if we can get the ball rolling with an investigation into this clinical trial subject abuse.

I just seen your post. My husband had cervicore surgery in 2008. Many nightmares in between, just went to another Dr 2 days ago for pain, numbess and atrophy now in both arms and hands. He was told his c3-c4 was compressing his spinal cord and needed surgery soon. What ever came of your situation? Im very interested

Thanks for the posting. Gives me hope. I am 1 year post c5-6 fusion. I was quadrapalegic after a fall and doing much better except for my left hand which is still partially paralysed. Neuro-surgeon said I will recover for another year or so before he will look at alternatives to fixing my hand. Is very frustrating most of the times but am hopeful that it will get better. I still have the neuropathic pain in both of my hands.

i had a cervical fusion over 2yrs. ago. ACDF. had a blood clot about 20min. after surgery. had to go back in to remove it. was going paralyzed on right side. i'm no better. pain is awful 24/7. i can barely walk or stand up. my legs feel like they are going to sleep. have horrible headaches too. numbness in my head and losing my hair. i was better before surgery too. i can barely turn my head either way. i wasn't like this before. anyone having these problems? how do you get this FDA form? good luck to all of you! i hope there is help for us. my whole lifestyle has changed. i can't do a lot of things i used to do. i can barely go grocery shopping. also, i found out that in the second surgery, the dr. put a different device in my neck than what was in it the first time. when he found out that i knew, he wrote me a letter. said for technical reasons, the first one wouldn't go back in.

Have had pain and numbness in arms and hands , it started about 17 years ago while in the Marine Corps. I complained to the millitary for a few years and was finally medically discharged for herniated and degenerative disc in the lumbar and thoractic spine. Last march I was at work pushing on a helicopter and a stabbing pain started in my neck and upper left arm. Went to work comp dr. and was told I had 2 ruptured disc in cervical spine. Had c-5/c-6 fused an c-6-c7  and the pain in my arms emmediately went away. Within a few months pain and numbness started coming back along with vertigo symptoms. Next week I go back to the Dr. again.
