I just started Nuvaring about a week ago, so I know that is not long enough to really know, but I have noticed a drastic loss of appetite. I don't feel full, but I feel really apathetic toward food. That's how I found this site; I was checking to see if that is normal.

I second that emotion. I just started it 11 days ago, and now I have absolutely NO appetite before about one in the afternoon. It's not nausea, it's just a "blah, food? what is this food you speak so highly of?" type thing.

It also might not help that I've been bleeding all this time, but....

I've been on the NuvaRing for only a week and had noticed a tremendous decrease in appetite.
I'm really hoping this will help me shed some pounds that I gained while on Depo.

My first BC method was the patch, which I liked, but in the summer I just couldn't get them to stay on! Then I switched to the ring and loved it, between those two, I noticed aprox 5-10 lbs of weight gain, but I had many other life changes that could have been contributing factors. Then about 3 years ago I switched to depo provera, "the shot" and I LOVED it, my periods stopped all together, I had no side affects (that I noticed) and it was so easy, I only had to think about it every 3 months... BUT In those 3 years, I've gained over 30 lbs, which I didn't realize was happening (I never really used to pay attention to scales since I didn't own one and I never had weight issues when I was young). Also, last holiday season, after roughly 2.5 years on it, I started getting REALLY bad mood swings and was basically a horrible person a lot of the time, as well as getting cramps and some spotting. I am about to switch back to the ring next week and I am hoping that once I do, some of this excess weight will come off and the mood swings will stop (for my partner's sake as much as my own). I've been actively trying to lose weight and have lost 13 lbs so far, but these last 17 are sitting really heavy these days. Of every method I've used, I really liked the ring best overall, Depo is nice because it's easy, but now that I have side affects, I am NOT happy with it.

I am also on nuva ring and exercise and eat right on a daily basis, I know that losing weight is what I want to do so I do more cardio and ab rather than sculpting due to the fact that muscle weighs more than fat. Your exercise routine may be keeping you slim but your weight number still up due to that fact. Hope this helps.

I've been on the ring for 5 years. I've gained 45 lbs during that time! I am FAT. My boobs grew immediately, went from a B to C and are now a D. They are growing larger like the rest of me and they are absolutely massive. I have cantaloupes on my chest, I can't wear low cut shirts or dresses without looking like a s***. At first I was delighted (my husband too) but now they've become kinda saggy and they are just too big. Like someone else said, I don't recognize myself and I don't like who I am anymore. Gaining so much weight has made me feel terrible about myself. Last summer I wet to the gym for hours every day and ate 800 calories a day, I lost 20 lbs and I felt great, but then my mother came to visit me for 2 weeks and my routine went out the window, I gained weight immediately. I became discouraged and didn't continue working out and eating right, so all the weight came back PLUS SOME.
I'm now at the end of my rope, I can't be this person anymore. I stopped the ring a week ago, I've been hitting the gym and eating right again. It's only been a week, so I haven't noticed anything except sore muscles, but I'm hoping with everything inside of me that I lose weight. I'm nervous that I'm going to have super saggy boobs when all is said and done and if that's the case I'm getting implants! After all this stress I deserve 'em. :-) I'm getting the Paraguard IUD in a few days and I'm looking forward to hormone free b.c.
Ring start- 5'9, 140lbs, athletic build.
Ring end- 5'9 185lbs...miserable.
Oh, aside from the weight, I've really enjoyed being on the ring.

I've been on Nuvaring for 4 months now and it ruined me. Yes, it's AMAZING, because you don't have to worry about taking pills at the right time etc. but it made me lose 13 pounds. I was originally 98lbs and now I am hardly 85 pounds... First I thought it was because of my diet, irregular sleep, or maybe even stress, but who am I kidding, it's the summer, I am stress free, having fun, swimming, eating healthy, getting my sleep, then what the hell made my weight go down in 4 months? Nuvaring. Literally, that's the conclusion both my doctor and I came up with. I hate it. I hate it with a passion. Even for a small girl I had a body. I was a 32C and I had a butt.. I don't mean to sound cocky, but I really did, my cheeks were really pink, too.. Now it's all gone.. I'm literally a 32A maybe B if I wanted to push it, I DON'T even fit in a size 0 for my jeans.... and my cheeks that NEVER needed blush.. now do, because my cheeks have sunk in too.. I plan on quitting on Nuvaring.. I HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT!

I've been on nuvaring about a year and a half now. Haven't really noticed any side affects until people started telling me how skinny I was. Was only 110 to start with, and now I look almost anorexic in the face. Is this normal?

i was on nuvaring for 2 and a half years. within about 2 months, maybe three, i lost 10-15 lbs or so - i didnt really have much of an appetite for food, and if i did have cravings it was for things like cereal (how random!). even though i lost weight i gained a cup size in the boob deptartment - went from a B to a C. it also made my skin super clear and glowing - i worked at a supermarket as a cashier and customers used to always compliment me on how i had such beautiful skin and wanted to know my secret (vegetarian, drinks almost only water, doesnt smoke, doesnt drink alcohol or coffee often, ect). i went off it because it gradually decreased my libido and made sex unsatisfying, as well as make me emotional. since coming off it i have gained a whopping 20-25 lbs, have an insatiable appetite (with insane chocolate cravings), occasional acne, and long heavy periods that often dont come on time.

im going back on the ring as soon as my next period comes, i cant wait. im hoping ill lose the weight that i gained when i was off it, as well as have glowing skin again. im praying that my boobs dont grow again (bras are expensive!) and that i dont lose my libido and dont become overly emotional.

I have had nuvaring for about 3 months and I have lost about 25lbs. I'm not on a diet and I don't work out. I have noticed a huge appetite change with nuva ring as well as a skipped menstral cycle ( which I wasn't happy about). I need to lose about 50lbs and the weight loss has been wonderful. My stomach is flatter and my curves are a lot more noticable. This is a side effect I can get used to.

I started on the Nuva Ring in late September. Since then I have lost about 10 lbs. I am experiencing some apathy towards food and eating and I'm thinking it's probably from the Nuva Ring. I am physically active 3 seasons of the year I run at a track but in the winter I don't and usually gain about 6 lbs by the spring from all the holiday celebrations. So I was surprised to see my weight still dropping as I haven't run since I started taking it. I do have an irregular period now, where before it was like clockwork. Since this is only the second one I've put in I figured I would give it a little more time to see if that goes back to normal. The weight loss I think at first I thought it was stress- I have three sons- 1 pre-teen, 2 teenagers and I go to school full-time and have been unemployed since August so I really felt that was a possibility but as a general rule of what I know of my body stress would normally make me eat excessively and I would GAIN weight, so I still think the Nuva Ring has something to do with it.

finding this site has calmed my nerves reading everyones opinion and experiences on the ring. My doctor just prescribed me NuvaRing and reading the side effects made me nervous as my weight fluctuates and i've always been so self-conscious about it. so this sites been very helpful! I'll give it a month or so and check back in!!! thanks all! :-)

I just started the Nuvaring 4 days ago, but I have noticed an increase in my appetite. I get nauseous if I don't eat something within a short time of feeling hungry. I feel as though I must always bring a snack with me, so that if hunger strikes, I have something to nibble on. I am going to attempt to eat smaller meals, so that I can compensate with snacks and not gain weight. Here's to hoping that will work!

Wow. I'm on adderal currently for my a.d.d. I've been on the nuvaring for about 9 months... now I've have a drastic amount of weight loss about 30 pounds a month.. I had sumed it up to my weight loss from the adderal and I just had my son a year ago and gained over 100 pounds while pregnant with him... I have preclampsia toximia n hypertensia... but I'm not wondering if the Nuva ring has had a little to do with it also. I've experienced acne on the Nuva ring which I'm not please about at all. But my period is exact now I don't cramp at all. I to have notice speech issues like cloudyness in the middle of talking or I studder now... but not often so its nothing to worry about.. but over all after being on yaz for a year n drastic mood swings and weight gain and being on ortho tricyclin low which I gained about 20 pounds on and just didn't feel right all together the nuvaring is the absolute best and easiest b.c I've ever tried
