I've been tapering off 10mg 10x a day(100mg) for 8 days. i'm now down to 15mg a day. i'm starting to feel tired, depressed, cramps, panic and not sleeping.
I'm wondering if something like Subutex (sp?) would be a better idea?
My Dr. gave me clonidine, ativan and phenergan. which I've yet to use.
I'm a single mom, my job is very physically demanding and I really cannot take more then 2 days off of work.
I've got to come off this, for my son and for me. I've got 65 mg left.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
It's going to be hard. You will need a few days off work. You need to start taking the meds the Dr gave you and really cut back on the last 65 mgs. Tapering off is the best way. If the meds don't help the Dr gave you go back to him and ask for the subutex. Praying that you get thru this. The first week is going to be the hardest but it does get better and you will feel so much better.Wish i could be of more help.
Subutex (or Suboxone) is both good and bad...it helps withdrawal symptoms, but then you have to withdrawal from it. It's sometimes hard to find a doctor that prescribes it...when I had Suboxone there were only a handful of doctors who prescribed it and they had special licenses and an allotted amount of patients that they could work with because it was highly supervised...I had to visit the dr 2 days in a row and then once a week and then bi weekly...paying the copay each time..it's also really expensive. I would just tough it out and use what you have now because its really just prolonging withdrawal. Good luck! It gets better!
Please be very careful with that Ativan and other tranquilizers that the dr gave you! They help at first and then become your worst nightmare! It is easy to become dependent and takes at least a year to taper off of! I know because I went through it and nearly lost my mind trying to! You need to find an addiction specialist to help you. At some point you will need to take some time off to regroup. I wish you the best. hang in there kiddo, it does get better with time, tapering and a good addiction specialist. Reach out as much as you can and share your experience with others. Sometimes the best medicine is each other. <3
