Hi, I am two months pregnant. For the first six weeks I have suffered from nausea, vomiting and fatigue constantly. I was a mess. No it seems that my condition is improving and I feel myself again. I would like to continue with my normal life as much as possible. However, there is one thing that concerns me and I haven't talked to my OBGYN about it. I was wondering if it is safe to have sex during pregnancy. Some of my friends say that orgasms in early pregnancy could cause miscarriage. Is this true?
Hi, and first of all congratulations! It is great that you are handling your pregnancy this well. Pregnancy is not some kind of illness during which you have to lie down and wait for it to pass. It is a normal part of life and you shouldn't deprive yourself of anything you are used to doing when you were not pregnant. Sex is often a taboo theme during pregnancy. The truth is if you feel up for it, than there shouldn't be anything stopping you to fulfill your intentions. Orgasms in early pregnancy cause rhythmical contractions of the uterus. They usually last longer than when you were not pregnant. Because of these contractions some experts are concerned that orgasms may cause premature labor in pregnancies that are at high risk for premature labor. I personally believe that you have to talk to your OBGYN about this subject before you engage in any activities. Your doctor will give you all the necessary advice and answer all the questions.
