Please tell me is it common to loose weight while taking Oxys for 2 to 3 years? My husband takes (4) 20 mgs tabs every day plus he takes (1) 150 mg tab of Trazadone at night to sleep. He also takes Mobic at times. He use to weigh about 165lb he is now about 140lb. I have discussed this with his Dr. and he does not seem concerned at all. He has very dark circles around his eyes and people that have not seen him in awhile thinks he is sick with cancer. He seems like a zoombie at times. He can be very moody and he goes to bed around 7 to 8:30pm every night. Which is a change from what he use to do a few years back. We have no intimate contact at all and have not in months. He seems consumed with taking these pills and this is his whole thought process throughout his day. I put the pills out each night as he has had problems in his past with rx abuse and years ago I guess he went to rehab. He certainly has a very addictive personality. He was drinking heavy and taking all these meds up until a month ago and he was becoming verbally abusive. I had to give him a choice and told him if this did not stop I was leaving the marriage. His mood is not the most pleasant even w/out the drinking, he is very negative and beligerant and agitated at times. He is 47 yrs old and I worry about him functioning while working as a welder all day and even driving safely. I fear one day I will come home and find him hurt or worse dead from this awful addiction. Any advise would be helpful. Thxs
I can see how 80 mg of Oxy each day could make him lose weight. Whenever I have a pain pill, I eat less. That is a lot of oxy. Is he actually eating less? Opiods can be an appetite suppresant for some.
I don't know about his line of work while on such a high dose of pain pills- that just doesn't sound good. Some people function just fine on that, however, others don't. If he is sleeping an excessive an amount, and acting strange- you might want to try to talk him into seeing another doctor.
The moodiness, in my experience, is not uncommon.
I hope everything works out.

It could be the trazadone making him lose weight also. I take trazadone to help me sleep and it has caused some weight loss. It is actually a side effect. Hope this helps.
