Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right section for this, but honestly I'm in so much pain that I couldn't waste time looking and needed to get an answer asap. For the past few days I've been waking up with this terrible pain in the left side of my lower back, and I really can't even function with it. It also makes me feel like I have to go to the bathroom really bad, but I can't get anything to come out when I sit down to do it. The more I try to do it, the more my back starts to hurt and eventually I become so sick to my stomach that I start to throw up, and have cold sweats.

The only "cure" I've seemed to find is to take some sleeping pills and "force" myself back to sleep; and then I'll feel better when I wake up. It seems to be coming back every few days though. Please help!

Oh, and I am a 20 year old male.
Do you have fever or chills? If you do, the pain is caused by strong infection and you need to get proper treatment with antibiotics. But what you are going through reminds me a lot on the period when my sister had kidney stones – she was even younger than you than. It could be just sand or stones and as they move to get out they cause this pain. The pain will change as the kidney stone moves through your urinary tract and it will come and go just as you described. Kidney stones don’t cause permanent damage, but to be sure if they are the cause see a doctor. And take something for the pain and drink a lot of water.

This us a very strong indication of Diverticulitis / Diverticulosis. Antibiotics are indicated here as the colon has bulges or pockets , so to speak . These pockets swell and foods w Seeds and small peices are not tolerated This goes for Nuts as well in the flare up stage
