I recently returned from Afghanistan, 4 days after returning i have had a burning sensation during and after urination, as well as abnormal itching of the scrotum and wierd sometimes painfull sensations in my testes although no discharge.
I went to see my doc who said maybe i'd over exerted masturbating, although they did urine samples and sent sone urine for lab testing it all came back negative. Going out of my mind and knowing that there was no reason for an STD i went to the GUM clinic for testing, Clamidiya, Gonorrhea and thrush were all negative.
My doc then out me on a 10 day course of cipro 500 mg twice a day, at the end of teh course all the symptoms seemed to have gone, a week later and they're back! went to my Doc who said we'll monitor it for 14 days then if it continues we'll send you to a urologist.
After all that i'm doubting my self (try seraching the net for burining after or during urination and all you get is 3 letter STD) my wife has been very understanding to her credit, probably more than i would be.
Where do i go from here? i have some of the symptoms of an STD but tested negative, (smears, urine) cipro seemed to work but then it all came back and my doc thinks i'm a hypocondriac!
Any Ideas?

Yeah, you could try a more aggressive laundry for cleaning your underwear. It's possible that you've picked up something that's living in your shorts, and that you're re-infecting yourself by wearing the same shorts again.
The fact that all symptoms cleared up with Cipro (a very powerful antibiotic available ONLY through prescription) would seem to indicate some form of biological or bacteria infection going on.
But I would revisit your doctor again. He's the best source of ideas and treatments.
Have any of your fellow Afghanistan buddies experienced anything like this?
I'd do some checking to see if others have experienced the same thing from living in the same conditions.
