Hello to everyone who has posted there symptoms on this site. I'm 42 years old and have has all these types of symptoms since the age of 22 so it's been a long time and like everybody here I have have had blood test, scans, more blood tests. But the overwhelming pain I get is pain in my back radiating to my left shoulder blade and neck. Plus a constant tiredness that is with me ever second day. I just wanted to thank people for there ideas on what tests to have done. All mine so far have come back negative but I'm going to ask for a mrcp scan or an endoscopic scan to check it out. Other than that I don't know what it is.

Was admitted into the hospital w/ extremly high pancreatic exzimes, then released 4 days later, but pain was in my left kidney area, all the tests came back fine for Kidneys, but still having extreme pain in my left side that radiates to the front.  I have had 2 catscans, pipita scan *sp* and they have yet to tell me what is wrong.. They said could be a possible muscle tear, but it isn't tender to the touch. Just recently had a ton of xrays to see if i have any pinching nerve from my spine.. Some days i feel okay, but as soon as I start to do anything i am in pain all day. Doctors have no idea what the heck is wrong and I am beginning to think they think i'm CRAZY!! Anyone have any other suggestions i could mention to the doctor???

I have upper left back pain that radiates to my upper side about 5 inches below my armpit. I can feel it more laying down. I was diagnosed with a splenic cyst last year but never had it looked into further. I'm wondering if it got bigger. My other guess would be something to do with a stomach ulcer. I have also had annoying hiccups.

My dad had upper abdominal pain which radiated toward his back. His doctor thought it was indigestion, turns out it was stage 4 pancreatic cancer after we demanded a CT. If you're having similar pain, make notes of it's occurrence, check your stool color (clayish colors are warning signs) and talk to your doctor. Keep in mind that X-rays are useless for tumors.

Does anybody experience the pain etc AFTER they go to bed? Sleep is interrupted the whole damn nite. My doctor does'nt seem to know what's going on. Purchased new mattress/box spring, not as painful but it is STILL there. I'm pain free while up.....

I have a similar problem. Mine normally wakes me after 3 in the morning, and can take anything from 30 minutes to hours to clear. I have been to the hospital about it years ago, and they said to take antacids whenever it happened again. However, since May last year it has got worse. I wake up with this awful stabbing pain in my stomach area, which then seems to move up to underneath my ribcage too. It's absolutely excruciating, and seems to be getting worse. I've tried Buscopan and the antacids, but they don't seem to work. The only thing that seems to relieve the pain for short periods is to be sick. Any help would be great.

I have the same thing and went through blood tests, ultrasounds, ct scans, xrays, and another I cant pronounce let alone spell. Spent 2 days and 1 night in the hospital and 50mg of demerol wouldn't even touch it. My left side under the rib cage is swollen and red. Still they sent me home. I go to an upper gi test next week. then specialist. The pain is almost unbearable. Help!

Hi all.  Just wanted to throw my two cents out there.  I have been having pain the last 12 hours in the same place, and all the research has led me to believe it is related to the stomach, not the kidneys.  Although it can be related to the kidneys, unless you are having acute pain or blood or other symptoms, it is likely related to your digestion.  Many of you have said it happens at night or after a meal.  I would say the likely culprit is constipation.  Honestly, I took some calcium/magnesium (in liquid form) last night before bed because my tummy was upset and I was in pain last night and this morning.  After I sat down to look up the pain, I felt the urge to go (this is the main function for calcium/magnesium) and went and the pain is gone.  You must keep your bowels regular, and even if they are, you can still be constipated.  Especially if your body "hoards" poop and it is blocking your colon.

I would also encourage you to change your diet and see if the pain still persists.  Eat more fiber, take metamucil if you have to-  more veggies and fruits and less white breads and meats.  Try to avoid dairy, as this can make gas worse.  There is a book that discusses this problem more in detail, which can be checked out at the library; it's called, "It's No Accident" by Dr. Steve Hodges.  This book discusses bedwetting specifically, but he says that many people who have problems with pain and bladder are not completely emptying their bowels.  He also discusses how to make it better.  The main point of the book is to help you find foods that are higher in fiber (the average adult female should be eating 25 to 26 g of fiber per day, and adult males need 38 g of fiber per day) so here is a chart of how much fiber many foods contain:

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/high-fiber-foods/NU00582/

Try to change it and then see, it might just be the problem.  If this does not work, he recommends trying laxatives for awhile- at least a few months.  If the docs aren't looking at your colon in an x-ray, they will likely not see or feel any masses.  Most likely this is nothing serious.  Try not to be scared.
