I have been reading through these replies and like all of you, It's a comfort to know that I am not going nuts and I am not alone!! There ARE OTHERS like me.
I had my daughter 9 years ago and since giving birth have suffered from terrible 'Pelvic Infections' every other month.( I call it pelvic infections as I dont know what elde it could be) The pain starts around my menstruation and sometimes carries on for a week!!! I suffer from terrible deep cramping pains and the whole abdomen area is just excruciating (if feels ultra sensitive), my pelvic floor is very tender, severe pain sitting down, terrible pain when urinating and having a bowel movement etc!! Sometimes the pain eases slightly after, but doesn't go away.
I had a cystoscopy & lapraoscopy procedure but all that these procedures showed was some scar tissue!! Since the last procedure 4/5 years ago, I've tried living with this...but recently it's got so bad I feel as though I am dying from the pain!!!! My daughter came running into my room worried as she heard my cries. I would rather give birth DAILY then carry on like this.
The doctors do not seem to understand or care...what do I do???
Im sitting here tilted on one side as I cannot sit straight. When it's bad, just walking/breathing/coughing or laughing sends terrible pain through me.
It seems to me, that if docs do not know/understand where the pain is coming from, or why...they just call it irritable. I have irritable bladder & irritable bowel...what next...Irritable body I guess!!!!
I hope that ereryone's symptoms get better and that one day they will find a solid answer for these problems, so we can work to make our lives that much bearable. x X x

Ladies!! I am laughing too as it is such a relief to know that this experience is common. I went to see a Naturopath yesterday and spoke of this pain. She very wisely told me to do more exercise!

Wow, I am experiencing the same thing. I'm 37 years old, had two healthy pregnancies and two c-sections. I went off the pill about 6 months ago and each month the pain seems to get worse and last longer through my period. I get completly anxious at the though of having a bowel movement as it feels like there is a knife inside me. Sometimes even sitting down quickly causes horrible pain. Passing gas feels like I'm in severe labour! I exercise regularly and eat pretty well most of the time but during those first few days of my period I get anxious if I have to go anywhere for fear of being overtaken by pain. This month it woke me out of a dead sleep and kept me up all night. I read somewhere that c-sections can be a cause of endemetriosis. Anyone else in the same boat? Planning to get in to see my Dr. soon. I went off the pill since my husband recently had a vasectomy and thought that it wasn't safe to be on the pill indefinitly but this I cannot handle as it stops me in my tracks.

I'm 43yrs and also came off the pill 3yrs ago as my husband had a vasectomy. I have had 'pelvic symptoms' for the past 12mnths including bladder and bowel discomfort. I have had regular periods which are not what I would call heavy. I have had numerous investigations including a laparoscopy 5wks ago. I was due on my period the day of the procedure but all i got was spotting. A few days later I woke with what I can only explain as contraction type pain. I had severe pain in my bottom and uterus and was unable to sit, pass wind etc. I nearly passed out twice because of the pain. I put it down to the procedure but have had it again only more severe this month and the period I thought had started is almost non existent. I was diagnosed with a large bulky adenomyotic uterus. Does anyone know why this pain happens and why i am hardly bleeding? If someone offered me a hysterectomy right now i'd jump at it.

I'm experiencing this as I speak and have been for months.the pain in ya anus and when u want to pass it feels like sharp pins stickin u.But I found out today its your eating habits and exercising. If u don't eat all the healthy stuff r don't take ya multivitamins on the regular, u end up wit trap gas.I truly believe my dr,the pain goes away after 2 days n it eases away when u fart... Trap gas ppl
It's more than just that. I exercise 5-6 days a week and eat very healthy. This kind of pain is new and is out of this world. I don't think that "trapped gas" is the only explanation. I will not accept that as the only explanation when I see my Dr. tomorrow and will insist that it is looked into further.
I am right with you frustrated, its more than trapped gas. The fact that it only happens while I am on my period signals it. It has to do with your bowels being pinched or something by our uterus while on our period. I just went to dr today and she suggested hysterectomy. I have two kids and dont plan to have any more kids, I am 40. I am seriously considering it due to the extreme/paralyzing pain that makes me sweat like I just ran a marathon. I sit on one cheek because I feel like my insides are going to burst and come out of my rectum. Intense pressure the first two days of period with severe pain while passing gas and bowel movements. What is this??????
