Hey everyone,

Has anyone of your doctors ever suggested that you might have a hormonal imbalance? I noticed quit a few of you posted that you had flare ups during specific stages of your cycle. One explanation is that it could be due to an increase in androgen levels (testosterone).  This problem is common in males due to elevated levels of testosterone increasing oil production in sebaceous glands so when they sweat, the bacteria build up causes painful deep cysts that if left untreated can cause tunneling under the skin from scar tissue leading to the increased chance of infection and the need for surgery for removal.

This just is what I am remembering off the top of my head  from my own research a few years ago when I was going through the same thing as many of you.  They came out of nowhere. I also started breaking out all over including my face, chest, and back.   I wasn't overweight, but I had been quite overweight previously.   I tried so many different things to make them go away.  I had them worst on my buttocks, and they were so painful that it hurt to sit down sometimes.  I didn't want to go to class on those day.  I couldn't think straight.  At first I was ashamed to go to the doctor, it was at least a year before I broke down and went, and by then I had some pretty bad scarring.

My doctor had suggested I try birth control, (I had cystic acne on my face and body as well as my butt) but I was worried it would cause me to gain weight.  After a few more months though, I decided that the potential trade off was worth it.  She put me on Sprintec and within the first month I stopped getting new breakouts and by the second any current breakouts were gone.  I have gotten maybe 3 or 4 small pimples on my backside about half the size of a pea since then (it's been a year and a half) but nothing so severe to what I had before getting on birth control.

I had my blood taken then as well and it did show that I had elevated androgen levels.  Almost twice what they should have been for me.

So if any of this sounds similar to what you are going through, then hopefully it will give you a potential solution and courage to go to your gynecologist/dermatologist and find out if this is a potential treatment option.

Please don't think I am trying to push this course of treatment onto anyone.  I just wanted to share my story and what worked for me. When I read so many of the stories here, I was saddened by the dejection and shame I could feel through some of the posts and I felt compelled to take the time share my success story and put forth a potential silver lining that may work for someone else that reads this post.

God Bless!

HI everyone, im so happy i came across this. but im 22 yrs old andhave had this problem since i was 18 and thats when i started gaining weight. I AM SOOO annoyed by these things cuz their are soo nasty i mean i dont want to live like this my whole life! I've been searching and SEARCHING and i recently found where this lady said she put TCA Peel on her's, TCA peel  is a body treatment technique used to improve and smooth the texture of the skin using a chemical solution that causes the dead skin to slough off and eventually peel off. She said not only did it kill the cyst nasty bumps but peeled away that nasty discolored skin. ALSO came across TREE TREE! soooo if anybody has anything better PPLLEEASSE let us all know we're all going through this.

I have had the same problem... I have had them on my face, neck, and back...I had to have antibiotics, but I have also noticed that if you crush four or five aspirin tablets you can also put lemon in there if you want. I have noticed that brings out whatever is in there and put a warm wash cloth on it and then put neospirin on it. I hope this works for you. I also take BCP(birth control pils) since then I have not had hardly any anymore...
