had a left thyroid removed 2 weeks ago and have quite a bit no swelling above the incision still and have a tightness in the front of my neck is this normal ?still have not returned to work and am still not doing a lot any suggestions?

Hallo Shelly,

It can take up to 4 weeks for you to recover from the thyroid surgery. You are in the middle of the process of healing and it is normal to experience swelling and discomfort in the neck. This means that the process of healing is working. However if you see any bleeding from the wound, or you are in unbearable pain, then something might be wrong. What are you eating past several days? Are you able to swallow anything besides the soup? People usually tend to go on the soup diet for ten days after the surgery, because it can be very painful to eat anything else. Did doctor give you any pain medication?

Good luck,

Nelie
