Hi, I would like to ask you a question concerning paxil and marijuana. My mother is 45 years old and she takes paxil for her depression problem. As for me, I take marijuana for fun, only occasionally though. I have heard that anti depressants by themselves induce some buzzing, sedative effect and I wonder what a combination of her and my medication would produce.
I think that you should stop wondering and leave your mom’s meds alone. I mean, I will not judge you for your act, that is your choice, but you should be a bit more responsible. You have to realize that mixing two regular meds is bad enough, not to mention complications induced by adding marijuana in the formula. Just don’t do that. For what you need, marijuana is quite fine.
I figure you should take the medication if you have anxiety or depression. If you like to smoke weed, then I would imagine that it would have a synergistic effect. You would have to take the medication long enough for it to get into your system.
Seriously.... wonder all you like, don't try it, and don't suggest to your mother to try it.
My (stupid) experience indicates that marijuana can reduce the effectiveness of Paxil for up to a week... not only that, but cause similar symptoms to SSRI Withdrawl Syndrome... sweats, panic, insomnia. unexplainable fear... and possibly freaky hallucinations
