I have read most of the posts today and I would like to offer a little advice for what it's worth. From I started my periods at the age of 13 my periods have lasted 3 days with maybe a fourth day of spotting. I was told that this was due to the fact that I had a small uterus which was introverted but that it played no part in my fertility' which I totally agreed with then and still agree with now. I am currently 42 years old and like some of you I would desperately like a child and am hoping that I am not too late. Around 2002 I was told that my FSH levels were high which indicated ovarian failure. I was devistated at the time, but continued on with my life. I was constantly told by my doctors that if you have a period then things are looking okay because you can't have a period without some regularity in hormonal balance. I had my periods every 28 days without deviation (unless I fell pregnant - which all resulted in miscarriage). My last pregnancy was last year February - an ectopic. When I arrived at the age of 39 things began to change and now my 3 day periods are lasting 2 or maybe 2 and a half days. Last month was the only month that my period lasted 1 day. In fact it was less than that....19 hours max and also came 4 days late.. I, like most of you were and am terrified that my chances of becoming a mother have dwindled to almost nothing. But I persevere. I took my vitamins and herbs, ate healthily for this month and although I haven't quite returned to normal, my mind was a little eased this month because it came (albeit 9 days early, it was back to 2 and a half days). My breasts ached like no ones business and my nipples itched like crazy 7 days before the period came, but I felt I was making progress. I am older than most of you on this post and I envy your youth and time to put things right. I am a smoker and have been for a very long time; It's hard to give up but I am trying. If anything, your reduced period days are probably due to an hormonal balance of some kind. Try and balance your body hormones first and foremost. I am doing so with natural herbs and healthy diet, but you all need to choose your own methods. For those of you who are in your early teens, give your body time to balance itself out. Once periods start, they do take some time to settle down. You may have it one month and not the next, it may last a day or even a few hours, but your body will find it's own balance. I hope that my post has been helpful to some of you.
I wish you luck and good health! As I am sure you are aware, smoking CAN affect your fertility! So if you could stop this might be able to help you! Has your doctors mentioned Clomid or Metformine!?
