This is not a problem to worry about. A lot of people experience this problem (including myself) after drinking alcohol. When I drink, then have sex with my wife, things are fine for about 10 minutes. Then I experience a burning sensation in my penis. At first, this extremely worried me. After several visits, to several different doctors, I've learned that the problem lies in the part of the penis that shuts off your urine when you ejaculate. With some people, alcohol slows the process, causing urine to leak where it shouldn't. Some people have this problem without drinking alcohol. Either way, it burns for a short time, then goes away. This is not an S.T.D. This is not AIDS, this is not something to stress out about. This is normal with people all over the world. When it happens, buckle down and wait it out. You'll be fine.

glad I found this forum. I have had this pretty much my whole life but it got really bad this past year. I agree with the theory of drinking more water and not urinating before sex. I had blood tests, STD tests and the doctors finger up my bumm and all those have been negative. It really makes me wonder if doctors know anything at all.

I have had this same problem for about 12 years (since I was 16). (Pain after ejaculation, pain in penis while dehydrated and blueballs, burning sensation after sex in penis, pain in penis because of alcohol and so on) As a lot of you have mentioned, keeping hydrated all day helps. Also when at college I used to get this sensation when I flirted and made out whit girls a lot without ejaculating (blue balls) over longer periods. This lead me to find that if I masturbated before going out drinking the pain that comes with alcohol is greatly reduced and goes away quickly, but drinking while the bitestical is swollen with sperm (blue balls), the pain comes and stays until you ejaculate (same with coffee). In general, all substances or activities that are dehydrating (caffeine, alcohol, excessive exercise or sauna without rehydration) can cause this pain. One thing that is a bit out there is that I’ve found out that stimulating your prostate (with a finger or your girlfriends) causes a more violent ejaculation and you never get the pain afterwards. This, and other statements on this forum such as forcing a bowel movement (which also stimulates the prostate) leads me to think that this is a prostate related problem. Also as mentioned earlier ejaculating before drinking helps empty the prostatic fluids (which is what the major part of sperm is made of) and relieve pressure from the prostate. There are two more or less common prostate conditions which can cause these symptoms that we experience, chronic nonbacterial prostatitis and medial prostatic cyst (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8632560?ordinalpos=2&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DefaultReportPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum). Both are treatable and a competent urologist can diagnose this conditions.

only happens after ejaculation and only ever happens if i have had a lot of surgery drinks like coke.

i have only ever had 1 sexual partner and i was her first sexual partner so i dont believe it is a std.

CURE!

Ok guys.. this is what it is.. you obviously have an STD.. its not that you had dirty sex and all of a sudden you caught a nerve problem.. it is bacterial and treatable with anti biotics.. the thing is, its hiding in your prostate, which is very difficult for antibiotics to get to.. everytime you take antibiotics you cure your penis head.. when you ejaculate (semen from the prostate) you reinfect the head and thats why you get that burning feeling in your penis head after ejaculation.. Many physicians are not aware of this and thats why you come out clean.. you have to take a 2-3 month course of antibiotics (alot of people get cured off bactrim/septra).. This will constantly kill the bacteria until none is left.. although this will work for some of you.. it wont work for all as you all might not be suffering from the same stuff..

I have experienced exactly the same from the age of 12/13 (when i began masturbating). in agreement that it is more likely to happen after masturbation when you have consumed alcohol. about 2mins after masturbation (... just sometimes) it begins to tingle and burn! I get a real bad urge to pee... and take a dump (as someone mentioned on the last page). I find after 10/15mins it disappears. I am now 21 and was beginning to worry, but it thankfully seems there are a fair amount of other blokes with the same problem. Seems this is a smaller problem than i thought! By the way i am in complete disagreement with the guy above... i of course did not get an STD at 13 years of age.
However, some of those experiencing pain at random times of the day / evening... i would suggest it could be an infection of some kind. My symptoms only occur after masturbation, and not very frequently.

I went to the doctor, got all the tests, then he said I basically wore out the muscle that squeezes the semen out of the prostate.

It honestly sounds like that while we all SEEM to be experiencing the same symptoms, the actual causes for all our problems might not all be 1 in the same. Like guest that I quoted, I have had this my whole life, got STD tested, and was put on an antibiotic program for a few months that was pointless. I too came to the conclusion that doctors dont know anything, that is till I talked to a world renowned urologist in the Bay Area who diagnosed me correctly. After his tests he said basically my muscle that constricts the prostate to squeeze out semen was irritated, it wasn't BPH, or STD's, or bacteria. He said during sex dont squeeze my PC muscle ( the muscle that you manually use to move your penis). I find that Ibuprofen works when I am sore. It's getting better, but sometimes I am afraid to hop on a jet.

Burning following ejaculation can also be the cause of trichomiasis which is an STD. This is treated with metronidazole (Flagyl) given orally. Check with your doctor first but if it is left untreated it can expand symptoms into the prostate.

CURED

My symptoms started with a severe burning after ejaculation that actually got worse if I urinated to try to make it better. Over time, it got more mild and I learned to live with it. Sometimes it would burn after ejaculating and sometimes it wouldn't.

Trichomoniasis was the cause for me. I've been following this thread since 2007 when my symptoms started and believed the people who said it was just dehydration or a common problem. But it wasn't.

Trichomoniasis is an STD, but is caused by a parasite that can live up to 45 minutes outside the body. This means you can get it from sharing towels or sitting in hot tub. Also, there is no good test for it. The test is only 50% accurate, so you may have it and the test still comes back with no results. For this reason, people are rarely tested for it when they ask to be tested for STDs.

The treatment is one 2 gram dose of Flagyl or one 2 gram dose of Tindamax. If you have any sexual partners, they MUST take the treatment at the same time as you or you will just get infected from them again. Most people (over 50%) who have Trichonomiasis have no symptoms at all, so just because someone doesn't feel a problem doesn't mean they aren't infected.
