My husband just started complaining about having burning sensations. The first time it started was tonight, 4/27. We were having sex and just when he started to ejaculate, he had to stop because he said it was burning him real bad. So, when he finally made it to the bathroom, he tried to urinate, thinking that would make it feel better, but it burned even more and his urine had a very strong odor. Nothing at all normal about any of it, this is the first time we have experienced anything like this. And he is the type of person who does not like to go to the doctor, especially for something like this. We are private people, but I wanted to try to find some answers on the internet, and I found your comments, and by the way, thanks to all of you. He did tell me that he is drinking tons and tons of cold drinks.....ALL DAY LONG!!! He said he will stop with the cold drinks and start on water in the morning. It could may just be an urinary tract infection. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. Thanks again everyone!!

Hey guys.. I'm a 23 year old male who's been having this issue for maybe almost 2 months now. I went to see my urologist because I was having urges to pee always and something not much came out. After ejaculating and passing urine the tip of my penis has a burning sensation and all throughout the day I'll get a random tingly feeling in my balls. I ALSO have the urge to take a c**p too.. which is weird. My urologist put me on 2 weeks of Doxycycline and it helped for a bit.. but it just now started coming back. To me it felt like it gets worse when I sit down for a long time. I don't know if it's just me but it doesn't take much to make me ejaculate now. All my ex gf has to do is touch my penis for a bit and I get the sensation to want to ejaculate pretty easily. Help? What should I do??

Hey I get the burning sensation after masturbation as well. I saw this site and checked others.

I'm a 27 year old sexually active guy, have been with my partner for 5 years, we both get annual STD checks just to be safe, I've actually had this burning since about 14 (around the puberty years) I've seen urologists, and cancer specialists, I've never tested + for any STD and still, no one seems to know what's going on, well nearly a year ago, i read an article of a man from N.Y. that suffered from this burning feeling too, his doctor actuallty discovered (through some sort of flow test) that his urethra was actually narrowing to the point of blocking off, and the force of his urine was actually causing lesions on the inside of his penis, I found a penile specialist in my area and am currently being monitored for this same thing? it's actually more common than what people think, and it kinda makes sense that it would burn after ejaculation casue that's a force of it's own!!!!!!

just wanted to put my 2 cents in to help. i had the problem with penis burning after masterbating and/or sex. it would start burning about a half hour after i did it. I found a solution that solved the problem 99% of the time. after you ejaculate, wait about 10 minutes, then squeeze your penis as if you were emptying a tube of toothpaste. A clear liquid will come out of your penis. That clear liquid is the cause of the penis burning(at least it was for me) and now it hardly happens to me anymore. That clear liquid i think is the irritant. sorry if i mispelled anything, but i hope this helps the rest of you guys.

It could be prostatitis. A barely noticeable infection of the prostate. It causes some prostate swelling, burning during urinating and ejaculation. Easily treated with 2 weeks of Cipro. Have a prostate exam performed.

i find that this helps alot with the problem, although it is worrying that it persists.
Usually consuming plenty of fluids clea up the problem.

ok, I'm going to attempt to summarize here, since there seems to be a lot of different things going on:
One thing about diet: a physiologist student friend I know claims that semen very readily absorbs acidic substances from the blood. In fact, he claims that drinking lots of fruit juice (which is very acidic) a few hours before ejaculating will affect the taste of the semen! So an acidic diet could perhaps cause the semen to turn acidic, which might account for the burning? But I have no proof of that.
I will also add my own experience, which may shed some light further. Since a young age I adopted a (bad) habit during masturbation of stretching the foreskin out during ejaculation to form a "pocket" for the semen to collect in, as a way of avoiding the mess of semen spurting everywhere. Odd, I know, but it actually makes cleanup very easy. In any case, if I do not leave enough room in the "pocket" or there is too much semen, then there is nowhere for it to go, so it gets "backed up". The pressure that builds up can force semen through the valve that stops urine from flowing. Then, some minutes later, this semen will leak out back into the urethra, causing the burning pain.
The same thing that is happening with me might also happen if you are wearing a condom and do not leave enough room at the tip for the semen to collect! Always be sure to leave room at the tip by pinching it to prevent it from being pulled right against the head of the penis.
In my case, and perhaps the case of people who have a weak valve somewhere, or excessively-powerful ejaculations, semen could back up into your urinary tract, and so urinating will NOT help, but could make it WORSE. Especially if semen is also backed up and leaking out from the prostate area (which is probably the more common thing).
What I finally figured out recently was the technique a couple others also mentioned: wait a few minutes, and then squeeze out the penis, from as far up as you can (from behind the testicles) like you were getting the last bit out of a toothpaste tube. This ALWAYS works for me.
In summary: For most people, the pain is caused by residual semen in the urethra (but maybe only when certain things are present in the diet?). It can get there any number of ways. But squeezing it out before it has time to irritate the urethra should always solve that problem.
- Burning after ejaculation AND urination (any time): Probable STD
- Burning after ejaculation, ALL THE TIME: Possible STD/infection of urethra or prostate, OR some other urethra issue (such as muscles not properly squeezing out the last drops of semen)
- Burning after ejaculation, SOME OF THE TIME: overly-acidic diet, or dehydration (causes fluids to become alkaline). Or too much pressure during ejaculation

hey, random reply but this post as well as another post regarding semen/ejaculate getting stuck in the urethra makes perfect sense. I've been experiencing this symptom for years and always figured it was the coagulated fluid (its gross but we all know how how well it adheres to any surface, skin included) causing some kind of internal irritation. I've had some unprotected sex in my days but, well i'm a rather self-sexually active guy and notice that it occurs more often when i'm alone than when i'm with someone. (and even more so frequently after drinking alcoholic beverages before hand)
thanks for the replies - I guess my only major concern would be some kind of prostate issue that i'd have to get resolved via meds/surgery/health insurance.. it would be a pain.. seeing as how I have no insurance to date.
DRINK MORE WATER EVERYONE... and take your time chokin the 'ol chicken - i've noticed 9 out of 10 times it happens its when i'm tired or drunk and don't want to wait for the fluids to build up -

--the last several replies at the bottom are very acurate, and I wanted to comment. Water and diet play apart. Also, I went to the md once when I knew it was burning and he ran a test and found blood in my semen but all my tests were correct. He pointed out that my eating too much red meat (high uric acid) may be causing the problem, so I do keep that in mind when my diet is off balance some. Eat more non red meats, or rotate it around some.
Sometimes during precum, I can feel the irritation start and I stop and do not get off and just wait "for a better time." :-) if you feel it start then ten times out of ten, it will burn afterwards, and it's no fun to stay up late, is it? Lots of water will rush through--if your lucky on timing and get to sleep on time. Sitting in a bath of very warm water soothes alot.
Sometimes I will just walk naked and piss in the sink when I feel it "wanting to clear." I think most of it is precum and not semen that is stuck in the uretha and I am almost sure "unwashed" hands caused it too. Wash your hands before jerking off--if you have to piss while in foreplay, go piss--I think that helps too. Or, if you have a old cup or jar, run it with warm water and let your penis sit in it for a while, which relaxes and soothes that muscle tissue.
Oh, I noticed if I sit the laptop on my lap this may induce irritatoin too. There are no reports on laptops and cancer, but there are reports that excessive "heat" at certain areas causes cancer. Keep that in mind.
Over-masturbating is probably the number one thing,so just lay off and give "it" a rest. :-) --I also think that cumming in someone somehow puts the right pressure on the penis to release all the cum unlike masturbation. So, be a good idea to get laid too. :-)
Best of luck!

I just can't describe how relieved I am to find that I'm not alone here! Christ, I felt it before the first time I had sex, I thought I'd picked something up off of a toilet seat! Thanks for all the info, those who had it to share.

Did anyone stop and thing it could be a male yeast infection? They say for woman when you take antibiotics it may cause it to be worse, I'm not to sure about the male yeast infection?

A male yeast infection is pretty rare, but in that case, it would make sense to see a physician for a formal diagnosis because they don't occur that often. Do you think that's what it is?

I will have to agree i have had the same thing going on before i even know what masturbation was.i would get a burning feeling and had no clue what it was.Although i never said anything to my parents when i was younger i did have myself checked not too long back and all was well. When i get that feeling i just take a hot bath it helps to urinate be sure to take a shower after to wash off though. And if a girl asks why you're taking a bath after you had sex with her just do what i do tell her your back muscles are very tight from having sex and you need to relax them.Odds are she may wanna join you.just don't pee in the water if she is in there with you. After a few minutes with hot water on your penis the pain or burning will go away.
