I too have the same tingling below the right shoulder blade for over a year. Im a dentist and I believe its posture related since I started working at a new office that is cramped and makes me contort to work on patients. I feel like if I were to find a cure for this, i will become a billionaire since so many people experience it yet no one has an answer.

OMG, sounds like me. I have had the same sensation on the middle left side of my back for about 5 years now. It is not extremely painful, but the itching deep inside and burning sensation sometimes makes me crazy cause I can't stop the itching! Sometimes it feels like a hot poker is stabbing the spot. I take my hair brush (since I can't reach it it myself) and just press it against the spot for some relief. It really is taking it's toll on me. I had a fatty tumer removed last year to see if it would stop, but did not.

So glad to hear others with this. The tingling numbness around my left shoulder blade has been bothering me for years. Doctors don't seem to know what is causing it. If someone gets a positive diagnosis please post!

I have same issue - same area as well. I know I have nerve damage / budging disc in neck upper back but it is now getting more frequent and bothersome. But was always told tingling etc was pinch nerves from disc pressing down on them.

i have serious back problems and this started happening to me about year ago. i have awesome doctors and therapists and they said it's nerve damage, probably from years of back and neck problems. mine drives me crazy sometimes! it's like i'm being tickled. i carry a foldable back scratcher for when it gets really irritating, though that only helps a little bit and only for a few minutes. there's really nothing to be done about it. if it starts hurting and burning too much, then they might try to do something.sometimes sitting in one position for a long time makes mine worse. i try to move around when this happens, though it does happen when i'm walking around too, though way less frequently. i hope this has been helpful.

I wish I could get in touch with you to find out how it turned out. I just started experiencing this (tingling of a patch of skin near my bra line on the right side of my back) a couple of weeks ago. I'm six months pregnant and was wondering if it had something to do with that.

if this were true, the other symptoms of shingles would have shown up by now. i've had these symptoms for over a year. i talked to my physical therapist and he said this sometimes happens to ppl who have long term back problems. someone may start off with just lower back problems, but if the problem continues over years, the person may begin to have problem all over the skeletal system and joints throughout the body. including pinched nerves which is one of the main caused of tingling and sometimes numbness, almost anywhere in the body.

Guys I HAD this problem, I HIGHLY recommend using a foam roller or PVC pipe!  You roll on it, find the tender spot, And proceed to feel pure relief.

I often get the same tingling sensation, usually when sitting, right in the shoulder blade area.  I also often get back aches, and because of that I decided to use a foam roller, just google it to read more.  Picked one up for $20 at Wal Mart, used it an it not only completely took my back pain away, the tingling seems to be completely gone as well.

I'm not sure whether this is due to poor posture as I slouch a lot, however I can say for certain the foam roller worked to perfection.  It basically feels like getting a great massage, hurts but feels so good.

Same thing as everyone. Super annoying. I went to a muscle specialist got x-rays and he said to stretch and work out. I work out every day now still there. I went to chiropractor and she adjusted me said it would feel getter. Been there three times and still here. I seriously just want surgery to take the nerve or whatever it is doing it out. My husband doesn't understand and it costs so much going doctor to doctor. I feel defeated!! I'm trying to diagnose myself and shingles kind of sounds like something I have Exocet for the rash symptom and there was an outbreak here in New York but shocker there's no cure so I feel like I'm stuck with this my whole life!

I have the same symptoms as most of the posters. In addition to the back numbness (no pain) I have occasional finger numbness going white in the cold. I have determined the back numbness is related to VWF or Raynaud's Syndrome of Occupational Origin after much research on the web.

As odd as it sounds, I view mine as a spiritual tingling as well. It isn't uncomfortable, and it gets more noticeable when something... "important" is happening? You could definitely view it as simply getting emotional and the changes in my hormones or chemistry internally causes the more external change, thus the tingling, or I could see it as something to pay attention to. I don't know. I am a righty, and I thought it was sun exposure or something along those lines, but I'm healthy and just going through a lot in my life right now, and it makes sense to me that this tingling, sometimes numbness, is my body trying to tell me something.
