I am also diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. The medication I am currently on is Risperdal and Prozac which may have some effect on my sleep disturbances. You're not crazy at all. I've been trying to find answers asking relatives and friends. Relatives said I would shake in my sleep and I have no memory of it until I wake up with my arms and hands shaking. I've had two head traumas in the exact same spot from hitting my head on cement. One when I was a baby and the other at 16 years of age. I've experienced some headaches but very inconsistent, some tolerable, some not. Also, I have never gotten an MRI or CT scan done. I was told to not worry about it and that I'm fine. Epilepsy also runs in my family so I do not know if what I am experiencing is the result of head trauma, medication or genes. My aunt and cousin both were diagnosed with epilepsy. Sometimes I would wake up with my mouth sore from tongue biting and cheek biting. I do experience confusion, lack of concentration and fatigue as well. Not trying to be a hypochondriac but explaining the things I've experienced. Definitely, if you have worries, set up an appointment with a neurologist or get a referral from you Primary Care Physician to see a specialist.  This is what I'm going to do since I now have insurance. Be healthy and stay strong folks.

I do not have any disorder such as OCS ADHD or Bipolar Disorder, but I have been experiencing this my whole life. Usually at points in my life where I experience some kind of mental or physical change, sometimes stressfull times. It's nothing to be scared of, even though sometimes it is pretty intense. Look into Astral Projecting and you'll see that we are experiencing the first couple stages. We are even able to take control over the situation and if we practice we can have out of body experiences. Psychedelics such as LSD or mushrooms can trigger this feeling as well so if you plan to trip make sure you are well hydrated, have slept well, and eaten well before your trip so it is less likely to happen because it can be pretty intense and scary in middle of a trip

I have never been diagnosed with any disorders such as adhd or bipolar disorder , OCS etc. but this has been happening to me lately. I went to my doctor and talked to him about it.  I didn't really know how to describe it other than I feel like I've grabbed an electric wire but it's inside my body.  I have also been extremely exhausted  when it happens.   it usually is when I sleep on my back, but sometimes also on my side.  it seems like it is usually when I first start to fall asleep. I have had sleep disorders, not falling asleep even though extremely tired for years, but nothing like this.  this is very scary.  I'm much older than some of you, 52, and have high bloodpressure and other health issues of this sort.  It was very bad a week or so ago.  my first thought was that I was having a stroke, and then maybe some kind of siezures.  my doctor seems to think that I am stopping breathing in my sleep. I have found that I can bring myself out of it by taking deep breaths and trying to make myself relax.  this has really scared me alot.  I know my heart will pound sometimes for an hour or more after I wake up.  I have also gotten to the point that I am actually afraid to go to sleep because I am afraid that I may not wake up if I do.  the last time this happened it started out the same as normal but I felt that I was slipping into unconsciousnous.  I know I've thought I was hollaring for my husband to help me, but it wasn't coming out and I also couldn't move. My doctor is in the process of setting me up with a sleep doctor, but what if it doesn't happen while I'm there?  hopefully I can get to the bottom of this, because it has scared me, at least, almost to death.

I've never posted on something like this, but I feel this is necessary. I have the exact same symptoms as you all, I've never had a seizure before so I don't know what it feels like. But sometimes I was up in my sleep & I can't move, I'm shaking and feels like my eyes are rolling in my head. I can think clearly but my body is going crazy. I always think it'll be okay, then I fall asleep. Sometimes I can't believe it when I wake up the next morning. I know it sounds weird but it's freaky & it scares me. But I'm glad to see it happens to others

I also have been experiencing this. I first started off with temp changes type seizures. For instance going from being comfy in an air conditioned room to getting up and getting something out of the oven, the heat hitting me will throw me into a teeth chattering seizing freezing fit. Now, yesterday my daughter woke me in the recliner and said I was mumbling and I remember being in a dejavu type dream and remember it all, but she said my left eye was wide open and rolled back in my head and I was twitching and was jerking and moaning. Hours afterward now my neck and spine are soooo sore! This is scary!!

I've had a lack of sleep lately because I fear sleep as mostly my freezing type seizures happen when I am asleep and I wake up jerking and teeth chattering and jerking uncontrollably. Just one lil piece of me can be uncovered during the night except my face and bam! I also have SLE/Lupus, Secondary Raynauds, Neuropathy, and Fibromyalgia ontop of migraines and the CNS involvement. The Lupus has started to effect the nervous system causing the nerve damage (neuropathy). My Dr does not want to raise my Chemo as Methotrexate is such a dangerous drug already and can cause instant death anytime you take it.

So just to be on the safe side you guys may wanna get an ANA blood test to rule Lupus out. It is 3x's on the rise. Most people do not know it but things such as Antibiotics can trigger Lupus or any other drug with sulfur/sulfa can. The sun is what triggered mine. Just one blistering sunburn! So you guys be safe out there and get tested!! If you catch it early enough you wont have to be on Chemo every week like me to control my body. There are different kinds of Lupus, not everyone gets a rash. My neuro doc has put me on Lyrica 3x's a day and it is to control seizures and help with the neuro pain. I have to admit I have been taking it twice a day vs 3 times as I hate having all these drugs in me. So I am going to be good this week and take it right and see if this helps the new type of sleep seizure now, and get back in to see him as I am late on another brainwave scan..ughhh..

Im 19 and was diagnosed with epilepsy as a child and now I'm being told that I'm convulsing I'm my sleep and can't be woken up. when I stop convulsing I murmur or giggle ? while remaining asleep. Im almost positive i have other underlying neurological issues and don't think any one is crazy here, unless your actually waking up in reality and find yourself unable to move. Sleep Paralysis is the transition from either falling asleep to resting or resting to waking up. It is pretty much your mind becoming conscious before your body you could swear your dream just became reality but because you are still sleeping, and in REM sleep you're body is in paralysis. They are associate with anxiety and fear. Situations that would make you want to run away, scream, wake up (if you recognize its a dream) but your body isn't quite ready. This is completely normal, but pretty damn scary. The last time it happened to me it freaked me out and happened back to back. The only reason is really scared me was i dreamt that i woke up in reality. I dreamt my room to a T. but i couldn't get up. I rolled onto the floor and was convulsion all over the place all while telling myself just get up, come on, whats going on!! and when i started getting frustrated in my dream about not being able to control myself i sat up and floated horizontally to my bed and woke up. WTF think about if i told people that happened to me in reality lol, crazy.

So I too used to be on Wellbutrin and Zoloft. And I understand that you are still taking it right? So maybe our stories aren't related because what I'm about to tell you happened when I suddenly had to come off high doses of Wellbutrin and Zoloft at the same time... But seeing that u take those caught my eye. So what happened was I was going to Hawaii and I forgot all my medicine at home and I thought I would be ok without them, but the scariest/ craziest things kept happening to me. They weren't seizures, it's hard to explain really but suddenly I would feel like I was being struck by lightening, and everything felt like it was shaking and everything went kind of white and fuzzy. And then it would just stop leaving me gasping for air trying to figure out what had just happened. I had never had anything like that happen to me until then over the course of that vacation/time off meds it happened probably 15 times. My parents were so freaked out they thought I was on some kind of drugs. They didn't think it could be from my lack of meds but it had to have been. Sorry for rambling but maybe they are related.

I get the same thing and more time it is caused by something bad happening or something going wrong in my dream. My heart rate goes crazy, I can't breathe or move, I sometimes can hear or see my TV in the background and I fight to get out of it. Have you experienced the same? And is there anyone on here that can tell me what is going on?!! It has been happening for over 2 years now and has gotten worse and I've just heard about "SUDEP".

I have these dream all the time. I can actually kind of manipulate the dream a bit, but not full control. Was terrifying at first. But it happens when your body falls asleep but your brain wakes up. It's normal. You're only afraid because you don't have control until you fully wake up.

I was diagnosed with Chiari I malformation on 7/22/15. Because of extreme pain and pressure sleep has been very difficult to come by. On top of my pain meds they prescribed me Valium for anxiety and used for a muscle relaxant. I noticed after taking the Valium I started having dreams where I could feel pain in my dream and would also wind up feeling like I was being held down, shaking (almost like tremors), and very disoriented in my dreams. I would wake up in a panic, feel shaky, and heart beating out of my chest. This has happened three times now since taking the Valium but not certain if it's being caused by the drug or the Chiari, maybe even both. I noticed your post and had to respond!

See when mine happened I was thinking about everything, bad things that hasn't happened but could happen. Things that has happened. Lol the talk of alien. Lol all the above. I woke up in the middle of my sleep, paranoid for no reason and just started thinking of stressful and in relaxing things. All of a sudden I feel asleep, next thing you know I'm shaking hard screaming "cordell, cordell, cordell"!!!(my boyfriend)and it's like I'm trying to scream louder but I'm not actually screaming at all. I noticed that he could not here me and all of a sudden it's getting so hard for me to breath, I'm having a anxiety attack. Now I didn't see any being of any sort. It kind of felt as if I where in a small space, just me kind of being stuck in my body and trying to stay tact,(weird right). Then I woke up looking next to me wondering had he felt me shaking???? Or heard me mumbling of any sort. And yes I believe in both aliens and the lord. But I think that it's more of you not being able to control you imagination, but it could also mean that you are loosing you self with being mad or hateful, and God is using this as your eye opener. And trust and believe if that is what it is then you know it!!! You know what you did, or how you've been acting. God sends signs when needed, and it's up to u to see them and change your life or not. And if this is not the case for you then it could be that you are having anxiety, paranoia, or something of the sort. But everyone situation is different. No judgment here, you know your life.

This sounds a lot like night terrors. Talk to a doctor and you can even try sleeping with a small light on.
