I too experienced post menopausal bleeding a while back, after being on nasal sprays with cortisone (nasocort). My doctors were surprised that I thought it was related to my nasal spray use. I went through a d+c, and a biopsy. Both were negative.
After my next allergy appt. with my allergist, I asked if the spotting was possible from the nasal spray, and he said absolutely! Cortisone is a hormone! Anyway, now it is a year or two past, and I had a little rash and put some hydrocortisone cream on it and low and behold I started spotting again today....the reason I am researching the subject all over again, ugh!

OMG. I am 61 years old and have been postmenopausal for 20 years, I started menopause very early and haven't had a drop of blood during that time, until...... On July 6, 2016 I had 3 shots in my L5-S1 lower back area. On August 11, I started what I would call a full-blown period that was fairly heavy and lasted 7 days. On August 28th I hurt my back again and my dr. gave me a 6 day steroid pack which I started August 29. Another 7-day period started 16 days after my last period, on September 4, which was 5 days after starting to take the steroid pack. I feel a bit crazed, but now I am fairly certain this is the cause. I am healthy. I run everyday. I never eat any red meat or chicken. I eat tons of fruits, veggies and fish. I weigh 110 pounds. I can't imagine I have cancer, but now I have to go through an ultrasound, blood work and biopsy. Geeze....Thanks for sharing everyone!

I have had 2 cortisone shots in my wrist, in three weeks. After researching online, I decided to look up if there is a connection. Seems there is ! I'm 61, and 11 years post menopausal. I'm freaked out. I'm having a real period. I'm hoping this is the reason. Thank you.❤❤

Yep, exactly the same thing happened to me. 62 years old, haven't had a period in over 12 years & 3 weeks after a corticosteroid shot in my shoulder I had a period! Went to my gyno, she did an ultrasound & pap & manual exam & all is well. The doctor who gave me the shot never mentioned this as a side effect. I am now starting a period for the 2nd month in a row. Jeez, I hope this doesn't go on for months.

I, too, had 2 cortisone injections in my sacroiliac joints about 3 weeks ago. I am 52 and have ceased to have a period in 23 months. One week ago I began spotting brown blood and am still (though lighter). I have had regular pap tests, also. I have had another, on Monday, along with and hcg serum and CBC....all normal. I am scheduled for an ultrasound and possible biopsy. I saw my rheumatologist today and asked about this. She informed me that she and her partner have each had one case each of this. One of their ladies was 70 yrs. old. It is a rare side effect, but I am thinking it isn't rare, at all. I will follow through with the ultrasound, but if there is nothing suspicious, I believe I will stop there. I also was seen at the urgent care for bladder symptoms. I had a trace of blood but the labwork came back negative for infection. I understand this, too, is a side effect. I certainly feel less anxious.....it was scary.

So glad to see these posts. I too about 3 weeks ago had to cortisone shots in my shoulder and now 3 weeks later, I am have a bad period after not having a period for four years. I read on these posts that most are light periods but mine is cramping and heavy. Could be because they said I have a UTI and gave me Cipro for it and medicines can cause it to become heavy. Well I am over the Cipro and it is still heavy so not sure how they came up with the UTI but the medication did no good. I had an ultra sound Friday but no results yet. They couldn't find my left ovary in which I thought they was odd. Anyone else been told that they could not find an ovary during an ultra sound?

I forgot to add that my doctor said that shots can not cause post menopause bleeding. I need to show her these posts!

I have been post menopausal for over 10 yrs. In the last year and a half I have had 3 cortisone injections. Each time after about 2 weeks I had vaginal bleeding. I have been to the dr and have had many tests run and nothing has been found. This week after I realized there is a pattern. I saw a new gyn today and told her what I believed was going on and she out and out told me that cortisone injections do not cause the bleeding. I was so happy to see others saying the same thing. I thought I had something very serious but no one could find it. I know it's not a coincidence that every time I have an injection, 2 weeks later I start the bleeding.

I'm glad to hear that someone non menopausal had the same problem after epedural injection. I had 2 injections and didn't have any problems after the 1st one however, have spotting after 2nd one. How long did it last for you?

Yes, this is the 2nd time it happened to me. First was shot in my wrist, and bleeding started day 9. Went to OBGYN who did exploratory surgery/biopsy. This time had shot in buttox for allergic reaction. Here I am, in same situation 14 days after the shot. This time I'm not alarmed....12 years past menopause.
