HI All,
In brief, after 2 cortizone injections i had to go through the operation. The Neuroma was between the 3rd n 4th toes from (big toe to little toe). I had the operation and was told to weight bear from day 1. This was completely impossible as the pain was excrutiating!! after seeing a Physio, i should have waited 3-4 weeks as the incision was on the bottom of my foot and not the top. (Its about 2" long with a hook at the top). Like a walking stick shape.
After 3 weeks the wound was infected and my foot went purple overnight, i was rushed to A&E and put on a drip. I couldn't even put a sock on let alone trainers or any other footwear. This operation was in April 2016 and i was unable to work for 17 weeks ( I work in a warehouse and am on my feet all day.
Fast forward to today and for the last 8-10 months i am unable to weight bear on my foot without some kind of footwear on. I even have to wear flip-flops when im showering!! I am also limited as to what footwear i can wear. Even though i have insoles in my shoes that were provided to me. (They were specially made).
This is so depressing and disables me immensely, i'm limited to where i can walk, what surfaces i walk on and when i get the dreaded (Cramp) i am unable to move at all!! This usually happens when i've been on my foot for long periods.
I'm now on the NHS waiting list to have another operation!! Is there any way i can prevent this?? I just dont know where to turn at the moment.
Thanks,
Steve
