I had a mandible operation 18 months ago and have suffered mild cases (about 5 in total)of swelling on one side since the operation in the same location as a plate is located. Amoxlyn has always cleared up the swelling. About a month ago the swelling became very severe on one side of teh face - Amoxlyn did not have any affect and flagyl and docliul (or similar name) were perscripted. After starting the medication the swelling increased and then slowly returned to normal. about a week ago the swelling returned but this time proceeded to higher on the face (so that eye cannot open) - the plate is situatec just above top jaw. Have currently been perscribed a 5 dose injection (1 per day) of antiboitic administered with a needle in the behind. Since starting this (2 so far) the swelling has become very intense (is painful to touch that side of face) and has not decrease but in fact become hard to touch. Does this body reaction mean that the stonger antibiotic is working? When taking oral drugs the pain to touch has never really occurred. Any solutions?
