If you drink in excessive amounts then you are likely to experience some problems. Although it is advised not to take any alcohol like beer, wine and liquor, mild consumption can be tolerated like a glass of beer or wine.

If you take too much, you are suspected of increasing side effects of the predisone, and the risk of forming ulcers and other irritation inside the stomach.

If you have decided to drink alcohol, then you better take the drug in the morning and alcohol in the evening, so that the drug could be absorbed. If taken together, alcohol and predisone, it may happen that the drug won’t be absorbed properly as alcohol alone may cause GI problems and not the mention the nausea and vomiting that could occur if the two are taken together.

Alcohol should absolutely be avoided while on prednisone. Prednisone should be taken with milk or food to lessen the stomach upset. Alcohol affects liver enzymes and that way can change metabolism of prednisone and its concentration in patient’s system. It is also recommended to be avoided taking food rich in sodium, so check the labels on packages
