Hi Everyone, I am 20 and was diagnosed with pos about 8 months ago now. I decided to have a break from my contraceptive pill as had been on it for 5 years.. But little did I know that I wasn't going to have a period at all. After 8 months I went to the doctors who sent me to have a scan.. The scan confirmed I had pos as you could apparently see the cysts - not that I was ever shown them. Yet my blood test results show I have no unusual levels of testosterone. I am 5ft4 and weigh 8 stone, so I'm not over weight in the slighted and never have been. I have the occasional spot like everyone and have no unusual hair. And there is no previous history of this in my family. I don't understand why my symptoms are different to everyone elses which makes me worry that it might be something else? I frequently get sharp pains where my ovaries are and along my Fallopian tubes. And it's swollen down there. I was put back on the pill as soon as I was diagnosed but still have these pains along with dizziness and feeling like I'm about to faint. Does anyone else experience this? My doctor didn't seen like she was worried when we found out I had it and when I asked to see a gynocologist she said there's no need untill I want children and has said I'll still be able to get pregnant without even doing tests :S I feel like I'll just ignore it and put it off and then in 6 years when I want children it'll be too late. I keep reading that it's good to 'catch it early' but don't understand why as I have been told/given no treatment anyway. Any help would be really appreciated as sometimes I just burst out crying as I don't know what's wrong with me and I know no one that's going though it  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use

Hi,

I'm 18 years like and I was diagnosed with PCOS last year.

I've done my research and found out as much as I could so that I could understand about what's going on in my Body. I have a boyfriend and we would obviously like to have children in the future. But being so young, I feel that I'm not quite ready for that. We had an incident in which the condom slipped off and we didn't realise, being in my condition, is it possible I could be pregnant? I'm slightly worried.. I'm not really having any symptoms really, but I didn't know if this would be different for me having PCOS. If anyone could help I would be really grateful.
