I started taking my Lutera birth control at the beginning of this month, starting on the first day of my period.
Seven days after I took my first pill, I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. (I'm aware that I should have used secondary protection, but I can't change that now.) I've been very good about taking my pill at the same time every day, and have not missed a single pill. About a week and a half before my period was due, I began lightly spotting. I was a little freaked out, but took a pregnancy test six days before my period was due (it was one of those ones that can detect it that early) and it came up negative. My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex again yesterday, and I'm continuing to spot when my period should be about two days away.
My concern is that my birth control is too low of a dose and may be causing the spotting. It seems to be lasting a long time for just spotting, and it's very close to my period. I could just be adjusting to the birth control, but I'm unsure. If the birth control IS too low, could I be pregnant? Should I take the Plan B pill? I'm really freaked out.

Birth control is not effective until one month after you start taking it. Spotting while on birth control could be a sign that you are pregnant, that's what happened to my mother. She was on birth control and pregnant and she also had light spotting.
It is possible that you are pregnant. But, the Plan B pill is most effective if taken during the first 72 hours after unprotected sex. I'd suggest taking another pregnancy test or seeing a doctor.
