My husband bought a brand new pack of condoms. We use Durex all the time. We were having sex last night and the first condom broke. He didn't ejaculate though. As we use this brand all the time, we threw the first condom in the garbage and grabbed another one. My husband is very cautious as we are not yet trying to get pregnant. We started having sex and he pulled out to make sure this condom was ok. We kept going and just before he came, he pulled out, "just in case". Well it was a good thing that he did because, AGAIN, it broke. Now my question is, can I get pregnant on precum? He didn't ejaculate in me but precum was there.
Thanks.
(funny, durex has broken three times with me as well, its really annoying, but I found if you buy a good Lubricant it stops happening)

anyway, about the Pre-ejaculate.

Pre-ejaculate is made in the bulbourethral glands (or Cowper's glands, preparing the urethra for the passage of semen by neutralizing acidity due to any residual urine. It also lubricates the movement of the penis in the vagina and the foreskin over the glans. blah blah.

the only time there is semen in pre-ejaculate is when sperm from a previous ejaculation are picked up by passing precum on its way out.

small studies have been carried out that show NO sperm in precum at all.

however, if he has urinated since his last ejaculation the urine flushes out any loose sperm in the urethra, and the chances of sperm in precum are low, if not impossible.

this doesnt mean that ALL pre-ejaculate is safe. people HAVE got pregnant from it. IF he has NOT urinated since his last ejaculation, loose sperm in the urethra would be picked up by the precum. and theoretically this causes pregnancy, and it has done in the past.

Depending on your cycle, the chances of conception are higher around ovulation time, this could also affect your chances.

from this information, make a sensible judgement of the risk you are at, and take according action, be it a Home Pregnancy test, or emergency contraception.

How do I know this? Its happened to me before, its not nice worrying all month whether you are going to come on or not, and I urge you, as one woman to another to go on the pill, it would really put your mind at ease if another condom ever breaks! :D

Thanks for the info. As for the birth control pill. I was on it since I was 16. Tried many different ones from my doctor. They give me migraines, every day and make me really sick. In other words, I can't handle the pill or even the needle, depo. Anyhow, thanks for the info. You answered my question.
