I am going to give as much information as possible in the hope someone can lead me in the right direction about this. I had unprotected sex on 30 December 2010. My period was due on 3 January so I didn't think I'd be ovulating and we used the withdrawal method- which I know is not 100% safe. within days my gut told me I was pregnant and everyone close to me told me I'm being ridiculous so I started reading things on the web. I've learnt a lot but I've finally decided it's a good idea to ask the question myself. What seemed to be my period came on the 4th. It was slightly lighter but lasted 4 days which is normal for me. I was still curious and took a hpt. It came up negative. Silly things kept making me wonder. I have now taken 6 urine tests. 5 were negative. 1 was inconclusive. None of them were done with first morning urine but the last one was about a week ago- I figured by almost 8 weeks the hormone would be strong enough. My menstrual cycle is not entirely regular but usually comes between 21 and 24 days apart. After my first period I got another on 25 January. For the first 4 days it was very light, it stopped and started as if it wasn't there. Then I bleed heavily. This made me panic but it stopped after 4 days so I wasn't alarmed. My stomach is bloated and my waistline has increase. I'm often tired and I get headaches more often lately. These are the only symptoms I have and I wonder if they may not just be my mind playing tricks on me. I'm ill with a sore throat and fever now and my period is late. What do you think? Is my period late because I'm ill and stressed?

Because I had constant troubles for over a year with throat infections, I can tell you one thing for sure - it will make your period late or even cause spotting, especially if it comes down to taking antibiotics which add even more confusion to the whole situation. And you are stressing beyond limits - how many, 6 or 7 negative tests and you still think there is a chance for pregnancy. No, you are not pregnant and from what you have described it seems to me that something has caused your hormones to go a little wild and hormonal imbalance always causes these kind of signs. Relax and if you need extra insurance go and visit your gyno.
